It's all about his having great taste and references. It goes to show just how much he contributed to the band's sound. I wonder if he used drum samples after he played the drum parts. Perhaps he had already recorded the drums and just played along when filming? It seems the drum hits are a bit harder than he's hitting. It's a great sound. He really is one of my guitar heroes. Everything he does is just “right”.

I think somebody else overdubbed the drums at some point. The hihat hits and open hat lifts don’t match the video. Heck maybe it’s Ferrone having some fun with his band mate haha

From my understanding, all of the Martins in that price range are laminated back and sides. 90% of the sound is the top. I had a few cheaper Martin's in my hands and they do have a lot in common with thier expensive brothers and sisters.

Ended up with the Guild. It’s nice. Not super loud, but will get the job done and the timers are nicer than you would expect for this price.
