When I got my Fender Twin I plugged in my strat, recorded a few strums and thought, "oh, that's That Sound...the one I've been hearing on 100's of records for so long."
So I guess that means yes.

I guess that means I need a strat too then…

Fun fact. My good friend Susan Carson. Her husband, Bill Carson, helped design the Strat with Leo. It was originally a Western swing guitar. It was his idea to contour the body and have six instead of three saddles, I believe.

Yep, you need one. Reverb and Tremolo vs. the Bassman, and headroom and low end vs. the DRRI - plus it's opto tremolo vs. tube-based on the DRRI.
Don't pay a fortune for them because the reissues sound just as good and these rarely get moved around and abused... but the 74 will be a lot easier to work on if required.
Great for guitar, keyboards and Wurli/Rhodes.
Perfect for a studio since you don't need to gig with it...

Great for keyboards and pedal steel / lap steel if you need things to stay super clean.
Really too loud for me in the studio for plain old guitar. Don’t go much above a deluxe reverb myself.

Keys and steel. I have one of the 140 watt ones. With the factory stock JBL D120s. Way too loud for anything else. I've wondered about installing a set of Yellowjackets with EL84s, but have not so far.

I never ran into a master volume twin that sounded good, but that was mostly at rehearsal spots in the 90s where gear was of unknown condition.

No, you want a super reverb or a bandmaster. Preferably from 1964-66

I love big amps, it's one of the biggest Fenders so I'm in for it. I have a Showman head personally but I'd be happy with a Twin.

Yeah and when you lose the reverb you lose one preamp tube with it! I'm not sure how much difference that makes but the Showman is super clean, you almost can't overdrive it.

I'm a huge fan of the Fender sound, but personally I see the Twin as too powerful for a workhorse studio amp. The headroom before breakup is super high. So if you want that at all it's going to be much louder than most people need if recording a band.
The Twin is great for bands playing larger venues and they need good volume.
If you only track super clean or in total isolation, then I'm sure it'll perform well.

This gives a lot of power with a very clean, kinda cold sound. Adjusting the bias can help. If your amp is one with hum balance instead of a bias pot you'll need to rebuild the bias circuit to AB763 spec.

I've removed that horrible circuit from them successfully and had em be a fine amp with a few other little chiropractic moves but then it isnt stock and prolly not worth as much even though its better. My favorite twins are not these Models. Which circuit is it? If it has the master volume with pull distortion then meh. Had one.
