Cool video! I feel it's a lost art using different polar patterns. The seamless 9 switch is very useful and can like you did in the video be used like an eq.
After a while you get a feel of what works and cardiod is actually starting to be my least favourite pattern haha! The lowmidbloom of cardiod usually gets in the way and being able to blend patterns is super useful!

Listened in earbuds. Wow, I hope the original artist doesn’t get jealous and insecure. Great cover, I’d love to hear a full version

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Tonality wise, they are really close. The Bc12a fet is just a touch faster and has more low end due to the increased impedance loading on the fet. Output wise, I’ve tamed the fet a little also as the headroom suffers to much if I don’t. Being fixed cardioid, you have some limitations but bang for buck, it can’t be beat!

Well Josh I finally got a chance to listen to your review. Sounds like you enjoyed doing the review. Thanks again for doing this. Also I got the feeling that you were impressed with the Proximity Effect that a Fig 8 can bring to the table. So did you record many of the instruments in Fig 8? Did you find that you had to roll off the low end much on the tracks to make them work/play together nicely? Or am I reading too much into what I was seeing and hearing from you? I can see that this might be a nice mic for someone who doesnt have a tube C12a Style mic, but it didnt really blow me away as much as the BU67 did. Did I miss the info about what type of tube is in this? I did not quite catch that. What tube is in this one?
Thanks

No worries I see its the ....Raytheon tube... the small skinny style ones. Ben must have a truck load of these as he has been using these for years. If it aint broke.....

It is the quietest tube I have ever used in a mic. Fail rate is less than 0.05% and to me it is the most versatile tube I have ever come across.

You should look into making it multipatern. It would totally be a C414 killer. Tonally it probably is already.

Thanks Thanks! I used figure 8 on bass, kick and one of the heavier guitar tracks. Taking advantage of the proximity effect on the bass and kick and the rolled off highs on the guitar. I did not have to do hardly anything in the rough mix I did. I really enjoyed some of the in between settings which I used on Acoustic and Lead Vocal. Omni was used on the cleaner electric, BGVs, snare and cymbals. I believe the tube is a Raytheon NOS 5784wb.

I'm a bit broke even if I won the Lottery. Chris It would be great if you can get one in your hands, Chris. I would love to hear your thoughts of it compared to the BN 67 you have. Consider yourself blessed for great prosperity, health and joy!

I’ll order my 67’s through them. For my capsule’s I imagine they are still coming direct. FJ don’t have these mics on their stock list yet either. Will they be? I’m glad there’s not a crazy mark up?

Capsules and other oem parts will still be a direct sell for us but for all things microphone, FJ will be a great partner for that side of the pond. There won’t be a crazy markup, just the usual VAT and transport but you pay that even when ordering direct. Btw, your capsules will be shipping tomorrow. Thanks
