This thread is so long overdue that I'm kind of afraid to start it Have you read something on GS that makes you just chuckle?? Post it here -- be sure to provide context, if needed. Here's one: Subject: "What's the cleanest, most transparent VOCAL mic pre that money can buy?" Post: "Avalons are pretty clean. It's good for when you have never worked with an artist and don't know what pre to use."

Plugin mastering compressors that compete with hardware thread is entirely this. They’re barely doing anything with their compressors that don’t do much and what hardware is even left? Like outside of 33609 inspired hardware, what switched stuff is left? A couple of varimus and 60 more Maselec MLA-2 will be made because of parts issues with the super fast optical detectors they used and that’s probably it. GML and Crane Song hardware is gone. Kotelnikov GE and MDWDRC2 are better than this stuff at hugging the material. Kotelnikov GE speeds up and slows down like no other and MDWDRC2, put a 200 Hz sine to represent the snare, a 3 kHz sine for the presence region, then the MDWDRC2, then an analyzer. There will be some side bands from the amplitude modulation but where’s the stupid inharmonic fuzz? Gone! What analog compressor can do that? Yet only 93% of analog according to Brian Lucey? ??

I find the silliest post are the ones where someone asks a question, gets an answer and then someone piles on saying the question and the answer are stupid and the people who wrote them never should have been born. Man! There are so many people that are way over the top, full of themselves. Most people don't scare me but the ones that do, always think they know everything. Maybe that explains my dislike of politicians. :-)

Grammar is fair game too... post: "i do not think it is a myth... it does seems like the "majority" of inexperienced Reason user stuff sound the same!!! anytime you only pick the top five patches in a directory/sub folder of sounds... you will have that quote/unquote Reason sounds..." Someone's response: "Why did you go through the trouble of typing out "quote/unquote" instead of just using quotes? I MUST know."

Every thread that begins “ what is the best…..” That's probably 50% of the threads.... Well yeah, and about 75% of the stupidest/ silliest, only out done by the “ do I really need a Silver bullet?” Of course they do😁

It's now all about "is the plugin SB as good as the hardware SB?" Hahaha!!

Man I haven't been back to GS in so long that I don't even know what the vibe is there anymore.
There were so many dumb and mostly REPETITIVE threads arguing about some small detail that nobody ever needed to know.. They all blend together in my memories at this point.

There are no silly questions....just stupid answers! Silly question, are you sure about that?😁 Well.....let's say..."inexperienced questions". Are they stupid, or just ignorant? I think the jack-ass, ego-oriented, pedantic, repeating-what-I-read answers are the ripe fruit for this thread!

What gets me is people going ga-ga over plug-ins modeling vintage gear that I absolutely hated back in the 1960-80s.

After spending the afternoon with a 134 pounds of dog in my lap and combing through GC’s used mic pages based on the number they have used: every U87 and Manley Cardiod reference thread. Are they good mics, yes, and the 87 probably works as often as any mic, but if the song and performance suck who cares?

What gets me is people going ga-ga over plug-ins modeling vintage gear that I absolutely hated back in the 1960-80s. And it matters not how informed and correct your opinion of a microphone is, some bozo with little if any experience will argue that his SM7b or Chinesium based microphone will work better in a certain context. For every actual pro in an actual studio out there, there are 500-1000 wannabes with $10,000 worth of Warm audio, Behringer and ART stuff with a Focusrite Scarlet and an iMac in a converted Rec-room, diluting the market and making it unfeasible for actual pros.

Someone's response: "Why did you go through the trouble of typing out "quote/unquote" instead of just using quotes? I MUST know."
Because it would have read like this: "" Reason sounds
Speaking of stupid stuff, shouldn't it be: quote <thing to quote> unquote?
