It’s £1399 here which is $1765 Yep $1399 in US. So they take the US price and turn it to pounds …. blinking rip off ( UK import tax to blame of course!!) So my proposed Mac Book Pro M4 Max 32 GB RAM 1TB is £3500 or $4,420! US prices don't have sales tax/VAT or do they? Add VAT to the US price and import tax if there's one for computer equipment.

If it helps, I've got about $91 in sales tax added to my cost -- so really just a $275 net cost difference for you (still sucks, though).

Tb5 info and new own external drive

Tb5 info and new own external drive 2nd vid, I would never buy an external HD that makes me agree to user terms🤦🏻♂️ Also I’d never buy an external HD with a cable that doesn’t unplug Other than that the speed is ok, but tb5 should be 3x faster than the 3-4,000mbps I’m getting with a tb3 m.2 external ssd, tb3-4 is 40mbps and tb5 is supposed to be 120mbps, so shouldn’t that be around 9-12,000mbs, so something is bottle necking or ?

I think people buy owc for convenience and as it’s products are typically good quality and value vs buying apple product at its exorbitant prices.
I’ve always had good experiences with owc gear.

I'm being whatever the opposite to a DEVILS ADVOCATE is here......(you know, because apple is the devil 8) "IF YOU DON'T LIKE A LOUD LAPTOP, SORRY FOR ANYONE BUYING A M4 MAX MACBOOK" If i could jump in a time machine and go back all of 2 years, i'd buy what i did because the M1 max was the first of it's kind apple silicon, i won't be upgrading because the M1 max HD write speeds are STILL faster than the M4 max(hilarious), faster than instant isn't important to me while browsing, i don't write code, i've never been involved in a session on any medium that had more than 48 tracks in more than 30 years so 404 tracks is hilarious, i render 6k Braw footage down to 4k video all the time and the 9 seconds faster the m4 renders will allow me to get laid an extra time while i wait maybe?🤞🏻 I always click render and go to the bathroom, or grab a drink and when i return its finished(about 2 minutes), the M1 max is QUIETER for audio, THE M4 MAX IS FAN LOUD, the M1 max doesn't throttle, so 30 seconds faster at best ain't worth x$1k's, if i was 3d rendering or a super gamer maybe i'd upgrade, the only thing i would like better than I have now is a longer battery life. I bought my M1 maxx in summer 2022 for a lot more $ than i should have, this whole expedited M1,2,3,4,5, HIKE! thing strikes me as an overclocking pito measurement contest with micro calipers

My PC 13900K desktop is water cooled (ultra quite thankfully) but it does have an enormous amount of muscle. Apple are ramping up these CPU’s to do huge number crushing tasks - mind blowing amounts of number crunching but it takes energy and energy = heat …. fans!

More current external ssd for m4 overview:
Guess, the main point is always the performance price differential vs apple.

More current external ssd for m4 overview: Guess, the main point is always the performance price differential vs apple. This was a big reason I went PC workstation for my main studio rig this time around, the internal m.2 drives deliver 7.5 GB/s as their all connected directly to the MoBo PCIe lanes. Sample libraries load and open like changing TV channel - l like to work quickly But as I’m planning on buying a new Mac Book Pro this video is an interesting watch!

I was skeptical when I bought my, current, M1 Mini 3 years ago (refurbished) with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB SSD. Now that I know the power of Apple's endeavor I'm going full on(ish)!! My mini wears many hats: audio engineering, home media server, software development, web server... Not to mention the porn -- so much porn!!!

Now I've ordered my new 16" MBP M4 Max .... I'm all excited to use Logic X again for some composing projects.
I'm surprised to discover Logic ironically doesn't properly use M chips efficiency cores and Reaper, Cubase and PT do. Odd, I'd of thought Apples own DAW would run the most efficiently on their own hardware - apparently not?
Also I checked out some TB5 docks .... ouch - not cheap!

For years now Logic and Final Cut haven’t been able to take advantage of apple silicon, defies logic and many will be happy when they finally cut the shit🤓 Also, TB5 moves 120gb per second, that means you can move 1tbyte in 8.3 seconds, TB3 can move the same in 25 seconds, it’s another sledge hammer to thumb tacks pito comparison metric, who needs to move a terabyte of info in 8 seconds?

I know what you're saying but after I bought my new 13900k PC last year with 7500MB per second M.2 drives and sample libraries open like changing TV channel - I find myself enjoying these higher speeds of transfer. Over a 6 hour composing session pulling up large sample libraries, all this multi second savings start to really add up and the workflow is great. I'm all for greater speed.

True.....theoretically but you still need a SSD that can handle it. My TB3 Sandisk PRO-G40 SSDs read at 2.8 GB/Sec. So, that's just under 6 mins to read 1 TB; not 25 secs. Of course, I'm not complaining -- that's plenty fast for me!!
