Saw him in concert 10 years ago in Minneapolis, and again 5 years ago at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. Fantastic both times! I got to see him 5 years ago at Dodger stadium and he brought out Ringo! Nice! , I think I may have seen YouTube footage of that one online, but what a treat.

He get’s about - a lot of people have a Paul McCartney story! I sat behind him in the royal box (no less) at a Genesis concert in 1986. I plucked up the courage and asked him what he thought of the band and he was definitely a fan! I went back stage to meet Phil Collins and after 10 minutes it was times up mate ….. Paul’s arrive to see Phil. Phil Collins in his day was super impressive, massive drum sound, spectacular playing and that expressive tenor voice. Talent will out - as I got older I started to realise I just wasn’t that talented I deeply understand that one. I was still slogging at it until a few years ago thinking that it was just a matter of me catching my break. Then, of all things, I watched Lady Gaga perform on the Oscars and it sank in all at once that I'm "talented" but I don't have that level of world-class talent in any of the areas that one needs to really make it to the next level as a musician and/or performer. (Phil Collins does.) And that's okay, it was just jarring to come to that conclusion around the age of 35, but it's a relief in a lot of ways as well.

I still write albums and perform, I’m now 61 years old. I have my own band made up of ex pro touring players who clearly don’t agree with my conclusions! They give their time for free, even pay towards rehearsals because it appears they love performing my songs. So you know you’ve got to take the little things and pat yourself on the back every now and then.

I’m confident you’re being modest.

In an amusing postscript, my wife and I were asked a series of questions by customs upon returning to Austin. They were curious as to why we went to Mexico for 36 hours with no suitcases.🤔
Fortunately, the customs officer was satisfied by our enthusiastic descriptions of our brush with Sir Paul and the following concert.😁
I spotted some members of Paul's band hanging out in the hotel the day after the show and I wanted to tell them how much I appreciated their playing, but I hesitated both times and next thing I knew they were headed elsewhere.

That's sort of funny because I think Paul was actually stopped at customs with rougher consequences! (Decades ago.)

We've been hanging out in lobby all day because our room isn't ready yet. We've seen most of the band head out for the venue. There's been increased security gradually lining the downstairs hallways, and there's a couple of families where the kids are all dressed up like the Fab 4 from Sgt Pepper. Added: one of the Dads may or may not be the guy from Drunk History. Added 2: we all just got corralled into an area by security so it looks like he's definitely coming. Okay bro love it, but wasn’t Buffalo Bill written about this?😁
