Yeah, but I've already a Symphony...it just seems like overkill to have a Burl and a Symphony...

Matt Don't know if you know but -18 is line. I'd start there first and see what kind of saturation you like. Mine lives on -18 but if you crank it you can damn sure hear it. It's like saturating and great preamp. I still get some saturation from -18 but just a tad. It's perfect for the kind of stuff I do. Hurry and let us know what you think!!!! I'm pumped dude! Did not get any tracking done last night. The Burl is inline at -18 and my vocal chain is passing proper levels of signal, but I am suddenly having a show-stopping problem with PT - the dreaded audio engine error message, suddenly popping up with annoying frequency. Not sure why, and need to find out. It killed the session stone dead. But vocals sound awesome through the monitors, I can hear a difference even live. I am gonna enjoy printing signal through the Burl!

is it an interface or just a converter? that's one thing I really like about the symphony, is that it is more than just a multi-channel converter. Are you still using the apollo as your interface?

The Burl is two channels of superlative A-to-D conversion. Input gain is controllable on the front panel, which is great, and the metering is awesome. Transient peaks are shown in a way that lets you know if you have any stray overs, something that a VU or simple LED meter often doesn't catch. My Quad is still the main interface, with the Burl using the Apollo's SPDIF inputs. This way, I also get no-latency monitoring through the Quad for tracking. And it will be go-to on the 2-Bus for mixing. Put simply: the Burl ADC B2 Bomber rocks.

I was looking at going...But, I'm just thinking...what's the generic, room full of geeks test here? I mean are they gonna have some sources and an analog mixer with the signal muted? Or is it just gonna be Rich&Co giving a sales pitch? I mean....They're new (to town)...is this a sales pitch or an actual engineering demo?

I've heard cowboy's mixes with the Burl, and it sounds like what i've been searching for, so at least I know what it costs to sound like I want to, even if it's way outta my budget at this time. Good luck with it Matt, I hope it helps you track like mad.
Now, I wonder if Ethan Winer came on and "proved" to you in a blind test that you can't hear any difference between converters, would you believe him? I don't think so. That's almost how much difference I hear between some cables and wires, but to each their own in some things, it's all good.

Don't know how they will handle the demonstration but I'd encourage you to go. I'd bet they will shoot it out with some other converters on hand. I've done that here at my place with split cables and the difference is amazing. Glad your here man!

@ MAtt: when you say you have a PT playback engine problem, do you hold down N on your keyboard as you open PT and at the splash screen select your playback engine ?
Or what exactly is happening ?
enjoy the burl !

I missed it...sorry...tell me they didn't offer deep discounts. I really need to just call VK and have them pull a Burl and an API A2d...see which piece is going to serve my own stuff best. I know...not the same...but, I am doing a LOT of Egtrs lately...and history tells me the API pres will kill on that...if the conversion is stellar clean (as reviewed)--I can use it as AD. Spend an evening with them...get up listen to the tracks and take one of two back.

I'd try the Burl...if I could afford it. But if I can't get a good sound out of the Symphony, then something is wrong with me.
