Since there have been some scattered discussions on an RGO gathering in NV I thought it would be a good idea to start a separate thread. Visiting clubs, listening to music and drink beer is perhaps the most obvious thing to do If we'd get some tips and directions from you NV cats, perhaps we'd get a list of the good stuff happening. Syncing with NAMM in July is one idea. Personally I was a bit discouraged after reading winetree's post today describing the chaos, but for a gear club this is of course the place to meet. But it seems that one would have to keep the expectations down for really experiencing new gear on an event like that. Another idea I've been playing with more and more is to book a session at Blackbird and make it open for all RGO. I just sent a draft to Johnkenn of an old idea that needs melody/lyrics. A bit premature, but if that'd work out, a dream would be to get Randge on board and also get help to book one of those awesome drummers and a bass players you have there and do the basic tracks (I know now how to say that! ). I'd play the piano on my song. But we could also consider recording a few other songs of other members and split costs to make it more affordable, and I'd gladly offer my keyboard services for free on a day like that! Now, this is just brainstorming, but how about that for an RGO event?!!

It sounds like ticket prices are expensive and I'm sure hotel rooms are going to be hard to find and costly as well. Maybe Randge can set up some tents at Slack Key for accommodations LOL! I would much rather go to Blackbird and look at (and hear) their gear than listen to new stuff through headphones at NAMM. Let's keep brainstorming and see what we come up with....

Cool! Re accommodation, after recommendations I tried airbnb.com on my recent South Africa trip. It's great! Had to keep costs down and found a room in somebody's home for like $25/day.

There is usually a lot going on pre-Namm to hear gear in private studios and hotels aren't hard to find at that time either. Regarding ticket prices, Namm is focused on sales and they don't sell tickets (except to let the public in on Sunday) as it is a merchandising event focused on industry people only. I can help people get badges if they are interested in seeing/hearing the new stuff for summer Namm. If you wait too late, the badges do cost $25.00.

There's going to be a small one coming in a few weeks too, hopefully. I'm always up for driving up to Nashvegas to meet, so count me in.

R Nice, thanks for the info Randge, I thought things would be more expensive. I also figured hotels would be booked solid for an event like NAMM. This is all encouraging.....

There are so many hotels here and they keep building more. All you have to do is book about 10 minutes from the convention center and your gold. Less than a hundred bucks a night and decent accommodations.

Namm La, and summer namm in Nashville are miles apart(literally and figuratively), Anaheim show is colossal, NV is much smaller and I'd bet more manageable?(never been), winetree's post has me second guessing that zoo? I'll call Sinsay today to see how things are going today at namm, and decide if I want to go even tomorrow? Maybe Sunday will be more than enough? it'd be fun to get together in Nashville with all u guys for sure! 8)

Sorry - just saw this. Summer NAMM makes more sense to me. It's not SUPER impressive - much smaller than LA - but there would be plenty of people to see and great people to talk to. unit7 I'm gonna take a look at that today - still finishing up some deadline stuff. Maybe between Shannon and Rolff, we can pull some strings and see if John will give us a good rate at BB. Problem might be that he's booked during NAMM...just not sure. If all else fails, there are only about 6,453 others within spitting distance if we want to book somewhere. We could always pay Randy a couple of bones and cut something at Slack Key!

Why not try to "keep it in the family"?

Johnkenn As mentioned in my emails, no hurry! I've been playing with that idea for years so take all the time you need (though the Hightail link will stop working in a week so if possible pls download soon). If we'll manage to coordinate any kind of RGO session, any good studio would do of course and would be great fun! It's just that for me, coming all the way from Sweden and have been druling at that studio for years, it would be epic to setup a session there.. And if John is booked the NAMM period I'd look at a couple of days later. But hey, still a bit early for that

A tour would be cool, but sitting in on a session would be amazing. It sounds like a much better experience than NAMM and there seems to be plenty of gear there. If I can't make it, I hope ya'll get to have some fun!

Maybe I could time a demo session at the same time and that way I could cut three others of my own and the one we write. End up being about $400 a song depending on the studio rate. Session players and all.

Is there any non-music stuff going on down there? Anything that I could use to convince my wife that we should take a trip?

Summer NAMM is really disappointing , very few of the boutique manufacturers bother and it's more about writing orders to mom and pop. Big on hospitality suites small on gear.

Oh...Madison, WI...I thought you meant Madison, TN Yep the great white north, I had to do some work on a system we had put in during one of the sales and it was little girl madness, It made a boy band appearance look sane.
