Jason Aldean also has taken up for Luke, posting online to Luke’s detractors [3], “trust me when I tell u that nobody gives a s--t what u think.” That's because every song in Aldeans library have the words "tailgate in the moonlight" Maybe this will make Country artists think about what they're putting out. Florida Georgia line are just as boring and predictable, Billy Currington and a host of others seem to be more of the same. I do like Dustin Lynch though

Aint a damn one among those guys with a pair of balls. If one of em WOULD grow a pair, they'd lead us out of this darkness. By God ole Eric Church said it best...

You'd think once they had enough money to feel like their ass is covered for the rest of their days, they'd stretch out a bit.
I might not have said it the same way, but that song's got something to say. Oh, and that vocal sits like a bird in a tree.

I'm sure you're right Tony. I was listening with headphones at medium volume, it sounded OK. I thought the vocal sat well in the song though.

Whwn they print too hot, the album doesn't breath well. Like someone talking too loud, you tune them out after a while. As we're talking about today's top 20 Country artists, I'm wondering if we're looking in the wrong place. I'm not as familiar with the genre as I'd like to be, but perhaps the Country we'd love to hear is already happening, except they call it Americana, but it's kept on the down low by the media.

I also dig Jay Joyce's work. Chief is a great record from Eric Church.
My fav disc right now is by country artist Maggie Rose. I like her attitude and spunk. It's an album with a body count.

I thought Americana was more of a bluesy folk? It's more of a roots style, with elements of Country. especially vintage Country, Bluegrass, Folk, Blues, with an emphasis on acoustic instruments, but not exclusively. Artists as diverse as The Civil Wars, Vince Gill, Mark Knopfler, My Morning Jacket, Patty Griffin, Gillian Welch, and many others fit the label. I like Justin Townes Earl, and Ryan Adams.

Think Steve Earleish...

Yep! Definitely, although his son is more Americana, and Steve Earle's a but alternative Country. The genre's begin to blur. I use Alt. Country to describe the more serious Country artists like Emmylou, Lucinda, . Steve Earle, LyleLovett,, hell, I even think if Tom Petty and Ryan Adams as Alt Country sometimes, as they crossover from rock to Folk to Country to Americana.

I turned on CMT this morning, and they're playing the same music that was on four months ago, I mean, it's the same rotation. Why don't channels like this play all sorts of new country music? It would certainly generate more buzz and interest than seeing a Carrie Underwood video for the hundredth time in a day.

Same complaint here, it's like MTV playing the same Beyonce videos over and over. They don't play anything traditional.

I was thinking about it, and CMT seems to be in a time warp. It resembles MTV in the 80's.
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy seeing videos, and the ones they're showing wouldn't be a bother at all if they mixed in other country artists. Where's Justin Townes Earle, where's Steve Earle, Ryan Adams, Emmylou or Lucinda, Gillian Welch? I'm sure there are dozens of worthy new artists in Nashville. If they really played all of what's happening now, instead of just the corporate Country Pop/Rock, they'd have a chance to really matter and actually help musicians, and the music business.
There's always been "top 40" radio, so it's not surprising there's a "Top 20" video channel, but like MTV, they will burn out the good thing they have going if they're not careful. Remember all those hair band videos in the 80's? They're embarrassments now.

It's a nice opportunity to hear a Taylor beside a Gibson as well. I think they compliment each other very nicely.

You guys know she won the Voice 2 seasons ago right? I think she's a great artist with more to say than what her single let's on. She was more pop rock thru the competition but started veering modern country towards the end.
