I love the old bullsh$% headphones from the '60s that sound like dirty telephones. Audiophile headphones are definitely a modern invention. You can mix on them!
I wonder what it would feel like if you had some HD800 and they just broke on you. Is that going to be just $1,400 down the drain? That's crazy to me.

The Avantone's aren't particularly expensive. $199 US. Here in Oz they list for $349 but can be picked up for around $300 AUD.

What a week in free/low priced tool acquisitions!
I modded an AC30 to separate the cab to be used separately with some high gain heads the guy has, but no other Celestion greenbacks - As I am a sucker for a trade in lieu of cash I got a DBX 160XT!
My buddy is having a second kid and I'm pretty sure his wife is trying to ruin all his fun by making him sell all of his music and photo stuff - He gave me an Ibanez HD1500 delay and a Line 6 cab with "custom celestions!" - the cab may be something I wouldn't be afraid to leave at band practice! Solid cab to put new speakers in at the very least!
I've also ordered my diyre colour pre during that 20% off sale with the intentions of switching out the THAT 1512 with the Jim Williams boutique pre amp replacement PIP. Which means i'll be picking up an Axial 3300uf 6.3v capacitor on my way home!
Don't judge me too harshly I know these aren't top of the line finds, but you guys are the only people who even know what this stuff even means, so nobody celebrates with me.

I wouldn't hesitate to send those in for warranty replacement!
I looked it up - 2 year warranty. I don't see the word "limited" anywhere near it either!

20% sale? How come you didn't tell us about that??!?!! Now I feel dumb. I guess I thought anyone who cared knew from the mailing list. They did a 1 year anniversary sale - 120 instead of 150, free shipping. I went for it.. 120 bucks for a clean 500 series preamp is pretty good.
I'll post discounts in the future though!

Man, a DIY Recording Colour preamp with a Jim Williams PIP card sounds like a match made in heaven! Jeff Steiger may finally have some competition ;-D

A pair of Heritage Audio 6673's (slots 3 & 4) Left to right... 1. Heritage Audio 8173 2. Heritage Audio 8173 3. Heritage Audio 6673 4. Heritage Audio 6673 5. Empty 6. Neve 3115 (With Phoenix Audio Class A mod) 7. Neve 33114 8. Neve 33114 The Neve 50 Series broadcast modules require a custom extended connector to work in the Heritage 80 Series rack. As they are narrower than 80 series modules I plan on fitting some filler strips between the Neve's. I'm working on a switchable load termination panel to provide the correct load termination for 600ohm gear feeding high impedance inputs. Thinking of a 1RU panel with 24 3-position toggle switches. Centre = No load Up = 600 ohms Down = 1200 ohms

Too many drums! The Rogers kit's hoops and some other hardware are taking a Dawn bath right now, they're a little dirty. I'll get them back together this weekend

An Elite. 32 channels, plus 8 stereo channels. All connections are on 120 pin Edacs. I'll be removing the patchbay and remotely mounting it. The producer's desk will likely be relocated from the R/H side to the centre of the console for the keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Km54 Km86i pair Ns10m pair Yamaha p2200 amp Nice. Have a KM54 but have been looking for a couple of KM86's for a while. Yeah I just got mine. Unfortunately it has the Mylar kk64 or 84 capsule. Now I'm on the prowl for a kk54 capsule. I'm going to ask shannon if he could whip something up. I put a wtb on gs for a working or non working kk54. I'd def be happy to let shannon reskin it. He does nickel work. I think that's my best option unless I can find one that doesn't need work. With all that being said I may be satisfied with the Mylar cap. But since I'm this close I may as well get a kk54 too. Max it out. I haven't gotten my Schaal psu so i haven't heard it yet. Eagerly waiting. I have a handful of m582 with m70's that where worked on by grosser and thiersch and I love them. I'm interested in hearing the nickel capsules for 582's... I think it's the m94 capsule or something. If the 54 sounds better than my m70's, which I expect it will, I will be a happy camper. I haven't received my km86i's yet. I'll let you know my thoughts. I picked them up for 2k a piece. I didn't think that was too bad. Everything is so expensive these days it's just like, oh well. What are you gonna do? Not get it? Haha

What are you gonna do? Not get it? Haha I was fortunate to pick up an original KM54 with a nickel capsule and power supply in good condition locally for the equivelant of $1700 USD. While I was looking I saw several KM54's being sold with KK84 capsules which effectively makes them close to a KM64. Most of the sellers omitted any reference to the nickel capsule being original and the KK84 being a non-standard replacement. A nickel capsuled KM54/56 is probably the best mandolin microphone on the planet. It is also excellent on banjo, dulcimer, autoharp, zither, and some 12 string guitars. However I still find myself often preferring a KM84 for general acoustic guitar duties where the forensic (but sweet) detail of the KM54's nickel capsule can sometimes provide a little too much information. I'm still on the lookout for a pair of KM86's. We have three almost mint KM84's and a set of three interchangeable KM85 capsules. I actually bought them as KM85's (a single and a boxed pair) then replaced the capsules with KK84's. I bought a mint second hand KK84 capsule and a pair of brand new KK84 capsules from Neumann for the boxed pair. Used KM85's are generally in better condition than KM84's and cheaper at least that's what I discovered.
