I've had every brand since about 20 years ago... Since I received mine a few years ago, I've got, Vol Beat, & Golden Earring to buy quite a few for studio use & Live tours! Sylvester is a great guy, tel him you heard about them from Paul @ Millbrook Sound. You don't get boxy, comb filtery stuff happening in those? I love the mic mounting system, toyed with some things like that for mine (pics above) but abandoned it in lieu of small stands. But that BOD doesn't look like it's got much absorption. For me, I had to get everywhere all stuffed up with rockwool to get rid of the comb filtering. Even with the fact that all interior surfaces of mine were already 2" of rockwool. |

Trick is to use small wattage amps!
20 watts or less.... I have about 30 here to pick from.
Plus I added a small piece of foam (sonex) right behind the mic angled in a "U" shape...and it works like a dream.
If using a larger head, as I did with the last Immolation record we did a few months ago, I put a load box in between.
I use the Rivera Rock Crusher for louder amps!
Since you can change speakers in a matter of seconds, I also have 6 speakers set up on extra baffles, that can be switched in & out for the best matching of speaker & amp.
And I also have Red boxes connected in line, but I haven't used one of them in about 10 years.

Torpedo Studio here; using it on every amp, for every electric guitar part. I drop electric/acoustic guitars and everything else (vox/bass/drums) into instances of Ocean Way Studio A to add ambience, tweaking the mic settings by ear to get the right level for each instrument. It works great, and I bet that any casual listener would never be able to guess that I effectively put the entire band into a synthetic version of a real environment.
