This is my studio. I'll try and get my imgur or other online picture repositories up to scratch over the next few days and post progress from day 1 onwards. I'm 4 years into this build. Been at it forever it seems, but I'm always upgrading it in little ways to get towards the goal. The latest few things were putting in two tons of stone for the 'front' wall in the main room, removing and reinstalling (and breaking) the windows between control room and main room, as well as finally putting oak plywood backing on my open racks to keep people (including myself) from accidentally kicking out cables and power lines etc. I'll add a lot to this thread. The aim was to have a 'Vibe' studio that was properly constructed and as sound isolated as possible. Somewhere between Sputnik and Addiction is the best way to describe this place. Jeff Hedback made significant contributions to the direction and design of the place as well as pointing me to resources that were helpful.

Excellent place! What spawned the decision for 2 tons of stone?

Excellent place! What spawned the decision for 2 tons of stone? I've been wanting to do it for a while . . .there was a studio I was at in South America (eons ago, don't ask for details) that had it done . And I've been wanting to do it ever since So, the opportunity and finances and availability of a mason all collided at the same time continuum intersect and it happened!

Is that Keurig hooked up to the patchbay? - Brilliant!
I recommend the Dark Magic K-cups if you want to add some seriously bold mojo.

Congrats. Looks great in a very workable space. With major set backs I Should finish my build by the end of the year. I want to do stacked stone around the lower level of the tracking room. Was your stone individually laid in mortar or on sheets? Looking for small different depths in the stone, helping with diffusion.

winetree it was like bricks of pieces that were a couple inches thick, but had to be mortared by a proper mason., They have definitely provided lots of diffusion but still have a nice little bounce off them. I'll try and see if I can get a picture of a sample and some info on the manufacturer. The Depot carries them. My buddy Rex is the manager at the store in Santa Ana. So I'll try and get some info for you

Yes it looks awesome. Reminds me of Paramount in Hollywood. I was just wondering if it was for sound isolation.

Never go outside of the Pro-Audio forum but saw WARD was the moderator ... Anyway, Should've never let you in to my "studio" ... ever! Very jealous now. Seriously though, that is an incredible set-up! BIG space - beautiful. Is that at your house? You'd told me about the guitar collection but the picture really brings it into perspective.
