I have several tube amps I really like, including a 65 Tremolux, a Dr. Z MAZ18, a Princeton Reverb and a Princeton. At low, low volumes they sound great, but anything approaching grit is too loud for our house (wife, kids, neighbors). Looking into a load box to get my tube tones into Pro Tools. Right now my workaround is to just dial in something close in my Eleven Rack.
What are people using, and what do you recommend? Please note that I'm not interested in amp sims, just the load box portion. The Suhr and Two Notes are definitely in my budget; the OX is at the upper end of what I'd want to spend.
thanks!

I had the Suhr reactive load and it does what you want. You will just need to get cabinet/speaker IR’s.
You may also want to look at the Fryette Power station. It is an attenuator that sounds better than most attenuators and also has a reactive load to go into PT and use IR’s. I prefer micing my amp at reasonable volumes using the fryette than using IR’s, but its nice to have both options.

I've got the UAD OX and I am very happy with it. Works great with my 100 watt Two Rock and works just as well with my 13 watt Echopark Vibramatic 13. I am a Mac user and the app has also worked great for me. Now that they've added some new speaker cabinets is is even better.

I own a Weber Mass Attenuator and have been very happy when I use it, although I rarely use it lately, so I've considered selling it. Settings for more amps than usual, as it has impedance selector for 2, 4, 8, and 16 ohm.
It attenuates amp volume really nicely. You can use it as a load box. There is a switch for adjusting treble, which sometimes is needed when attenuating.
It also has a line out that I can run to my Apollo interface, and has a 3 band tone stack for just the line out audio. When I was using it a lot I would mic a cab and run the line out, just to have some variety on the same performance. It worked really well for this.
It's hand built on Ted Weber's design. Pretty nice product that I don't see people talking about much because they're not in the big stores.

You really need a reactive load box so the amp sees a similar impedance to a normal guitar cab.
Resistive load boxes like the weber, fryette, Dr Z don't do this. Two notes do a poor job emulating a speaker.
Suhr is the only one ive seen that does a good job matching a speaker/cab impedance. (I have never tried an OX)

I’m very happy with my TwoNotes Torpedo Captor. I use it to tame my Vox AC30cch, which only growls at unacceptably high levels without it. With the Captor in line between the head and speakers, I get -20dB of attenuation, which lets me get that gritty chime Vox is known for without bringing the wrath of the rest of the household down on me. You also get two direct outs (one clean and one contoured like a cab) and a nice set of cab IRs. It’s inexpensive and sounds great. The only downside is you have to choose an ohm rating. I chose the 8 ohm version, which fits most of my cabs, and use a Weber impedance matching box to fix any odd combinations I might want to try.
