So I was listening to some online demos of something else awhile back and the guy happened to kick on what turned out to be a Kingsley Page Tube Boost. I was across the studio only half paying attention as the demo video (for some other pedals) was playing and as soon as I heard the Page my ears stood up and I was like, "What the hell did that dude just turn on..." Anyway, I had to have one and today I finally got it. It's absolutely and unequivocally the finest overdrive I've ever played. The responsiveness is just...not pedal-like. The range of drive from none to plenty is so smooth and there ain’t a bad spot to stop along the whole journey. There's a long wait for this guy's pedals (10 months right now I believe) but I think it is more than worth it. Here's Simon (the man behind Kingsley amps/pedals) demo'ing some of his stuff. The dude can...uh...play the guitar too. Just a public service announcement for the guitar slingers here. This stuff is amazing. The Page is the first pedal demo'd in the vid below. Attachments:

Cool!
Im not really much of a pedal guy, but. Interested in what pedals this is besting for you.
I have a Blackstone I think that I use for live stuff. A friend had an old Marshall Guv’nor and we both preferred the Marshall. And a couple amp in a box things, a Supro, but to be honest it’s just gathering dust.
I’m still a bit on the fence with the Iridium, but it’s still very early days. But that’s a different application.
A friend just got a Bogner Lagrange and loves it but it might be a bit of a one trick pony, but a good one. I haven’t heard it yet though.
ok, gonna go back and listen to that clip some more.
Cheers, Geoff

Will just add I’ve heard some clips for his amps. Can’t remember the model, but Dumble-esque.
Cheers, Geoff

Cheers, Geoff I've had so many drive pedals over the years. Stuff from Fulltone (like the OCDs and Full Drives), the VFE Pale Horse, the Subdecay Liquid Sunshine, various Keeley modded things, the JHS Morning Glory, Maxons, Barber, Zvex...too many to name really. The (big diamond plated tank) Mesa Boogie V Twin was kind of cool. The old Ibanez Tube King was kind of cool (when it was working). The Kingsley Page is just in another universe. I've never heard anything so good. It's so big, creamy, nuanced, so responsive to what guitar you're playing and how you're playing it. I run out of superlatives, honestly.

I’m a pedal nerd. Or was up until a few years ago when I started getting more into studio gear. I’ve kinda dipped my toe back into the pedal game and Kingsley has popped up on my radar a few times. I hear people rave about the Jester/Minstrel. Did you have a chance to listen to those in comparison?

Btw, I put my favorite TS (BYOC Green Pony) in front of the Page this morning and it’s just heaven.

Cheers, Geoff Re: the Iridium. One of the reasons I was so keen to get the Page is I think its strength is the Iridiums weakness. The Iridium sounds about as good as any modeling I’ve heard. I prefer it to Kemper and AxeFXIII (though to be fair I'm only going off clips of the AxeFXIII) but it has its foibles too. Mainly a slight propensity to be a bit mid forward and a little bit of hardness in the transients. But the overall tone and character is about as good as DSP amps get in my view. The Page adds tube squish and sparkle in the most elegant way I’ve ever heard and it *really* takes the Iridium into new territory in my view. I also have an Empress ParaEQ dipping about 900Hz and boosting about 100 Hz and 12kHz. All very slightly but it massages the Iridium's midrange push really nicely. Super happy with the tones at this point. Better than I was typically getting mic’ing my amps.

donr You ever try any Kingsley stuff, Don? I've always admired your touch/dynamic sensibilities and I think you would like this thing.

I am keenly interested by your unabashed endorsement of a dynamic quality we both dig. Gonna have to check it out. Glad you're getting "real amp" quality and feel with the setup you describe.

The wait time is unfortunate but I think the sonics and feel of this stuff is amazing. I'm not one to be needlessly effusive I just haven't experienced anything quite like this in a drive before. Plenty that I like a lot. None that have dropped my jaw like this. It's worth having on your radar in my view.

I dig your taste in tone, Ragan. I sent an email to get on the list for a Page.

The "Kingsley Pedal Club" thread on another forum is 480 pages long with 9589 replies as of this minute. So: fair warning! It's obvious that Kingsley adherents display a fanatical devotion to the brand. I have not committed yet partly out of fear of jumping down yet another endlessly deep and expensive rabbit hole. Someday I will lose the battle, but for now I'll settle for exploring the Ax-FX III, which has changed my guitar playing life. AF3 + Kingsley OD(s) out front? Oh yes, I can see that coming.

Heheh. Well I guess I’m not the only one to hear one of these things and turn into a Kingsley evangelist.

Wow - just listened to the clip and it does sound amazing. Currently using a J. Rocket Majestic (all 12:00, light dirt) into an original Barber Direct Drive for crunch. This sounds to me closer to my Barber, but less gain and more open. May have to add it to the list (of course the list is never-ending... rebuilt my pedalboard this year onto a Temple Audio board, but always looking to improve.
Also trying to figure out if I like the Keeley Electric Mudd (Super Fuzz with more control) or if I'm holding on to it because I owned an original super fuzz and sold it when I didn't think it would give me Pete Townshend's sound (out of a Hilgen Basso Grande and then a Music Man 65 410RD...

Listened to a few clips of the Kingsley pedals and damn, they do sound really really good. I remember stumbling on his amps back in the day and thinking they were some of the best I’ve ever heard. Prices are crazy on Reverb, but if that’s “the sound”, I could see spending that kind of coin on one. Don’t laugh but my favorite od ever, and I’ve tried a lot, is the Boss bd2.

Yeah the Reverb prices on Kingsley stuff are always jacked up because the wait is so long for a new one. The Page is absolutely stunning in person.

In the videos I watched, all the pedals sounded so good...how did you settle on the page? Just by the scenario in the first post. I heard it clicked on from across the room while casually listening to someone demo some delay pedals and I found the sonics to be special. Had no idea what Kingsley was or anything but I knew what I was hearing. Then found out what it was and had to have one. It's the perfect edge-of-breakup to light overdrive in my view. Makes the rest of the chain sound better. More alive, super dynamically responsive, amazing glisten and squish.

I also have a Jetter Jetdrive showing up Monday as per donr 's recommendation (Jetter pedals in general I mean). I want some more gain before the Page and the BYOC Green Pony, though it is my favorite TS clone, has the characteristic mid bump and I don't always want that. I've been really impressed with what I hear of the Jetdrive and want to audition that here at my place.

Got the Jetdrive. It’s fantastic.
Where have these pedals been all my life. Kingsley Page as last in the dirt line doing edge of breakup. Jetdrive just before it with two lovely variants of overdrive that can be independent or cascaded. The tones are just lovely. Jetdrive has a really nice ability to be sing-y without being super gainy.

Man somehow that’s not even an pedal any more... it’s just a teeny tiny tube amp. Single 12AX7! You can do a ton with that.

Used to have a Jetter gain stage red. Very dumble like. Foolishly sold it as I didn’t really have the chops for a pedal like that back in the day. They make great stuff!

I stepped away from the pedal game when things turned into "$50 pedal with a $200 paint job" and I had no idea what was what anymore. It looks like some of the pricier pedals these days are a whole new animal. The Origin Effects Revival Drive is really something special as well. Regarding the Iridium, did you try other IR's or just the stock ones? I paired mine with a Strymon Deco but now i'm really curious to try the Kingsley stuff, i've read nothing but great reviews about them.
