Nor I.
At first I thought maybe it was used flush mounted to a table for conferences or onto a wall for additional sound reinforcement but I don't think that is the case. Certainly an unusual design.

cool. I can't think of another cardioid that also uses a similar baffle. I've got an early seventies wooden dynamic AKG that's omni, but comes with a plastic ring to turn it into a cardioid. I've seen other examples, but can't recall any types or brands, I'm afraid. Never heard about Hiller, tho...

I actually have, within the last year. I'm pretty certain it was a thread over at PRW and may have concerned this very mic, as I seem to recall something about a TAB transformer.
EDIT: I just checked - yes, it was PRW.
