I think if you look at the build instructions, you can see a full schematic that, along with a view of the front panel, will tell you just about all it's possible to know about this unit. It's passive, transformer-based with a bunch of tone-shaping options. I think we can be sure that Colin will have had wound a very nice transformer, and from there he's included pretty much every possible option based off of that transformer. www.audiomaintenance.com/downloads/ezpdi-500_colourbook.pdf

I think this is an awesome design, except for the 500 series form factor. I want a DI as close to the source as physically possible not tied to a rack or lunchbox.

Really cool video demo, but I'm astounded that a bass DI wasn't demonstrated.
