Shot across the bow??? I'd say so. Also my buddy Derek we were talking about played guitars on this album.

Meh...it's still pandering and cliched. But - at least it's trying to say something. I don't know if my biggest problem is subject matter - it's been HOW it's been said. All songs don't have to be about a "soldier walking through the front door" (my God, that's just as cliche as beers and dirt roads), but tell me that story about the time you went to Panama City and met this girl for the week you were there...and how it made you FEEL. Seems like all the songs on the radio are nothing but pictures. I'm all for furniture, but my God, where is emotion?? Where is the truth?
Here are a couple of examples of what I'm talking about.
And if we're gonna use pictures, beat this:

A cookie cutter song bagging on cookie cutter songs with different lyrics? I think if someone put it out, the world is pining for some depth musically as well as lyrically. A couple of those songs JK posted can bring u to tears, specifically my girls A&B
IMO, here's a tune that vibes both lyrically and musically, especially the sound of the recording, where did that go?

Angry All The Time is a great song, RIP Mike Shipley on an amazing mix, that whole album was great.

Must admit, im not a big fan of Scotty, but some of those songs JK posted are great tunes.
I listened to Kenny chesney's "There goes my life" last night . What a song. Also touching as we had our 1st born yesterday. Little baby girl :-)
