At a certain level, they’re all pretty damn good. Just different flavors.

At a certain level, they’re all pretty damn good. Just different flavors. There was a whiskey that someone gave me years ago. I don't remember the name but it was like battery acid. I used it for some mixed drinks but never finished the bottle. Maybe that stuff was the Chinese condenser bourbon.

Seriously...we could - and should - make a standing list of the Bourbon equivalents to mics.

Both standard and the 46. A few year back, a mastering engineer friend and myself had a bourbon tasting. We ended up using a combination or genre and frequency balance to describe what we were tasting. Woodford was jazz. - warm lower mids, and smooth on the top end. Buffalo Trace was an expertly mixed pop track. - it had a sparkle on the top end that reminded us of modern pop productions. Maker's was rock all the way. - it had weight in the pants, a little more than Woodford, but also had a brighter top end. I can't remember how we classified the Sazerac Rye. By that point, I think we were too far gone.

Ward - Mic Drop retails for around $60, but on the secondary market people resell for around $350 or more. Its not THAT good!

Alternately, I have on occasion used an MD 421 for such things... I feel like Bulleit should have a place in this discussion somewhere as well.
