I would definitely take can sugar cola over corn syrup or aspartame any day!

Wife and I are going to do a roadtrip from Nashville through Kentucky soon-ish, kin in KINtucky and all . . . so we may be able to intersect at some point, especially with regard to smaller distilleries.

I'm actually in Cincinnati... Depending on your path, I can at least recommend a few decent distilleries to hit.

Boulevardier cocktail. Then a pour of about 60% Old Grandad 114 and 40% Sazerac rye.

The bourbon soda remains my daily driver and it continues to impress.
Nothin' fancy, just hangin' with ol' Jim Beam.

Boulevardier cocktail. Then a pour of about 60% Old Grandad 117 and 40% Sazerac rye. Your taste in beverages is 635% better than your taste in room mics. LOL

I gave a friend a sub woofer I wasn't using. He came by with a giant bottle of Elijah Craig Small Batch. Hard to make a dent in a bottle that is so big... but I did my best.

Re:actual sugar cola. I miss Kroger's Old Fashioned Soda Shop Cola--whatever it was called. I don't mix...I chase...but, it was the BEST EVER. It was like they took the flavor profile of Coke, but made it sweeter like Pepsi...to try to appeal to both crowds. I would still prefer to drink (mexican)Coke if there were no bourbon involved...but...for a chaser, it was perfection. Plus they used super thin cans, so it got cold AF in the fridge...and they made a Fizzicist (their Dr Pepper) that kept DP's flavor but made it LESS sweet and syrupy...that was literally my fave soda ever to drink just as soda.
Now, I get the little cans of Pepsi Soda Shop....their real sugar version. For some reason the little cans I think have more fizz than the larger cans maybe...

Family drama on the wife’s side & what would have been my father’s birthday sooo it started with Linees and Point Beers & now we are draining a liter of Bacardi light, with some damn good brats.

Just Bacardi on its own or mixed? Honestly... get Don Q white or gold. Far better product and still quite cheap.

I'm not actually drinking it this morning.... but when one of my bands played here this past weekend, I try to support them as well and picked up a bottle (of the "Whiskey") although when I'm there I might have a taste of the Barrel-aged, which is also very nice. But only a taste since I'm working... Anyway, if you ever get to the Austin area, it's only 20-30 min away. Check em out. Good music too!

I've been making Penicillins lately. I've always liked them, but hadn't made them at home until recently. Gotta make the honey ginger syrup ahead, but it's fun and easy (and delicious). Famous Grouse for the blended and Laphroaig for the topper. I really love these up at the cabin, for sipping by the fire, inside or out. Also been making Paper Planes, with Woodford for the bourbon and Nonino and Aperol for the amaros. Felt like a good summer -> fall transitory drink this year. We spent some time in Italy this summer, so that season was full of Aperol Spritz and wine. I also really like just amaro and bourbon mixed. Usually Ramazzotti and whatever bourbon I have around. No measuring, just a little splash splash and enjoy.
