Chris and Charlie fan here. Anyone picked up that juicy hog of a new DI yet?
Haven’t heard it yet, but love that I could chock my rear tire on a hill in San Francisco with it, which makes it doubly awesome.

I have one, quick 10 minute test with a original musicman bass sounded good so far . Clean but not sterile. I’m doing some tracks tomorrow and have more of a opinion . I’m going to run my 1960 p bass through it . First impression was a very nice DI

I have absolutely too many DIs for my small studio ... but my GAS for all things AudioScape is difficult to overcome! Interested to hear more reviews/thoughts

I have a wolf box DI ( by monkeyxx) , Radial DI, Audioscape . I’ve also used a Rupert Neve RNDI enough to be very familiar with it . The wolf box wins hands down if you want vintage vibe . The Radial has always been to clean and to sterile for my taste not a bad box , but just not for me . Now the RNDI and Audioscape can be close in sound ,until you start tweaking the load control on the AS di. With the load control all the way counter clockwise , the AS DI is little warmer at that setting, but I wouldn’t say vintage. As you turn clockwise the ASDI it seems to push a little more mids and top end in a good way .its not drastic but very useful tones . I thought the RNDI was a nice DI for when you needed bass to cut thru which the ASDI does also , but the Audioscape is able to pull more tones with the load control , way more versatility with Audioscape. It’s a keeper yomv

Just ordered one of these tonight. Can't wait to try it out. I'll reply back to this thread when I've done some listening and comparisons. I love my other AudioScape gear! Two 76a's, Opto (with OG vintage iron), and a VComp so far!!

Stratboy, Picked one up a bit ago, limited recording experience with bass/DI (my background was more live sound/performing) - so can't really compare to anything else first hand. Threw these quick clips together for comparison. Bass is "partscaster" jazz bass one of my former bandmates put together, all bass controls full up, 1 track into line input 8024 , other 3 into Audioscape DI - level at 12 o'clock, load full left/middle/full right. No processing, EQ on board out (off). Hope this provides some usable info for you.

Thanks. Appreciate this. The ASDI sounds very good to me. The range of tones you can get using the load control is a big plus, IMO.

Two 76a's, Opto (with OG vintage iron), and a VComp so far!! Any opinions yet? Hey, I finally was able to set this up and do a quick little unofficial shootout. I don't have a whole lot of nice DIs, but i did set it up next to my Avalon U5 (no EQ), Radial JDI (with Jensen), and Radial J48. Recorded a pass through all 4 DIs simultaneously, API 3124, Lynx Aurora converters, played some bass and listened back. I had the AS DI with the load cranked all the way and no attenuation. The AS DI sounded the best to me. It was much fuller in the bottom and mids, and smoother in the highs than the rest. I could see if you wanted more articulation going with the Avalon or J48. In my setup, the AS DI sounded most similar to the Radial JDI, but the Radial was a tad thinner in the lows and low mids. Overall, I loved the sound of the AS DI. It certainly has a finished sound to it right out of the gate. I could see it being great in many situations, and fun to play around with instruments and microphones!! I am really looking forward to using it in a re-amp scenario, for the tone shaping with the load knob. In this first setup, and playing with it quickly, I though I might always use it with the load knob cranked. We'll see.

I love this thread and I LOVE this post!!! ;-) I recall a photo from one of our AS FAM who absolutely LOVES running his Rhoades through it - many more who have told me it's replaced every other DI they own for BASS - but, coolest of all, TO ME, is all of our AS FAM who are literally using it as a color box when mixing - printing a bunch of tracks through it for the subtle bit of mojo (or more, depending on the magic LOAD CONTROL™). It gives their tracks, before mixing, a more cohesive sound. This is a use I hadn't thought of before but after trying it; it's actually REALLY cool! I've yet to have someone message me and say they didn't like it or thought it was "meh" which is ALWAYS good.. Some of y'alls posts in this thread of your shootout results are astounding! To subjectively beat out an Avalon U5 is quite amazing in my book! We definitely took a lot of care and love in designing the CLASSIC DI to be a CREATIVE TOOL rather than a bog-standard utilitarian device - as many DI's are thought of. And there IS a place for those, as well!! With the addition of the LOAD CONTROL, ATTENUATION control for RIDICULOUSLY loud sources, 1/4" input / thru as WELL as an XLR input for microphones, line signals, etc really puts it over the top (plus....if I do say so myself - it has a classy, SEXY look 😜 - I WRACKED MY BRAIN coming up with the silkscreen design for this thing!!). Thank you to EVERYONE for chiming in and helping the OP out! THIS is a prime example of why I love RGO so much. It's REAL TALK. No bullsh*t. Refreshing. Y'all are the best. and we LOVE you. and we have some SWEEET new goodies in the pipeline for all of you, to further potentiate y'alls "AS ADDICTION" 😜😘😍 XOXOXOXOXO, Charlie

OOPS!
P.S. - there are two GREAT, organic af, user-submitted reviews on the CLASSIC DI product page, right below the 'TECH SPECS' section.
This reviews section can be found on EVERY product's page, in the same spot - right below TECH SPECS.
I encourage any and all of you who own our gear and would like others to hear your experience and thoughts, to post a review! They're not editable or removable (by you or us) which is the way we like it ;-)

It's REALLY, REALLY cool but again, one of those uses I didn't really think about when we were figuring out everything we wanted to put into this thing. Did I mention it's all wired point-to-point inside? By the wonderful Marley! She does an incredible job!! Attention to detaillllll! DUDE... DI and ZULU would = MAGIC! I was talking to him a year or so ago about getting a ZULU but he was waiting on components to arrive. The box has ALWAYS been super intriguing to me - and sounds GREAT based on everything I've heard and found online. 👌🙏😘👍
