I thought the Vintera line was some Mexican moniker...like Baja...no idea it stood for Vintage Era. Anyway, picked up the 60s strat in Firemist gold and it’s really fantastic. I like it better than. Any of the performer or professional line. Pickups are quite good. Nitro finish.

(useless curmudgeonly rant follows) That's a great looking guitar!! Just spent some time going through all Fender's current offerings on their website, and went through the custom shop site as well. LOVE that finish!! and the rant... Normally I hate Strats because I spend a lot of time sitting on the bridge pup - and that's the Strat's achilles heel. But there was this one hard-tailed 1959 white Strat at Gruhn's once that was just ballsy in the tail, and it makes me hold out hope.
Presently, Fender only offers 1 hard-tail Strat. The Robert Cray Model
And yes, a HT sounds very different to a Standard wiggle bar one with 5 springs cranked and the bar unscrewed.

And man that middle pickup is always in my way! Honestly, that’s the right question...but I grew up on blues, so I’m always wanting that neck sound...even if I hardly ever use it in productions lol

I used a Gretsch 1961 Country Club for years, but foolishly sold it because i liked but didn't love the neck. I like the Country Gentleman necks the most, but they're 2 G's plus.
I decided I'd get a Strat because I'd sold my real deal great guitars for med bills, and needed at least one all arounder. I found a beautiful Mexican Strat with a lovely marbled neck and upgraded Lindy Fralin pickups. Before going to see this Strat, I went to a music store way upstate New York, (near Albany), I was looking at a few Strats and eyeballing a few Gretsch's. I'd wanted a Gretsch too, but the lovely looking Indonesian models just didn't feel right. My friend hands me an unusual guitar and says, what's this, try it. It was dead mint 3140 Heritage series, from around 2000. The neck was amazing, I couldn't't stop playing it, just flawless. I guess I'm a Gretsch guy again. I have a Squire 51 in the closet when I have to have a Tele or Strat like sound anyway.

For me, the neck comes first. I've owned a 51' Esquire, a 73' USA Tele, the Aerodyne Tele made in Japan, a couple of American Strats, and played a dozen Mexican models. My cheap little Squire 51' has the second best neck of them all. Only the Esquire was better. I plan to change the neck pickup which is noisy. That was the only Squire ever made that wasn't a cheaper copy of one of their other models. It has a Tele neck, an almost Strat body, and a bridge humbucker that can be coil split. It was so popular, Fender actually made a Fender version in Japan that was 4X more expensive. The only difference I found was the neck had a little more of a finish.
Pickups can be changed, pots can be changed, but the neck is what you play.
