I got the J200. It sounds ok, but despite the solid woods and all, it’s definitely no Gibson. I’m hoping it will improve with age. In the meantime, it’s fun to have around, looks great in pictures, and I’ll probably use it for some overdubs anyway!
There’s a video from Andertons with a blind comparison, look it up if you can.

Thanks! Just listening in the beginning, I thought the Epi Hummingbird sounded better than the Gibson there...

Guess it does sound a little more light in the bottom.

I don’t know if my Gibson 1960 reissue is $3500 better but it is a mighty fine guitar. It is my go to strummer on acoustic rhythm tracks.

Well I don’t expect them to be anywhere close honestly, just wondered if they were junk. The only one that sounded close was the Hummingbird.

I will see if there are any at the local shop next time I go in there and check one out if they do. I know they keep a lot of Epiphones in stock.

The Epiphones have really captured that mid-90s Takamine tone!
I was amazed how different the Gibsons and Epiphones actually sounded. There's no mistaking the beautiful tone of a Gibson J45.
