Spent the night at the ER, Blood Pressure was 213/113 going in.
My whole life i've had low-normal BP, 110/60
Now all that has changed... fuck me tender, pardon my vulgar expression. But I'm on Adalat (I think) 30 mg now, and doing ok. Apparently, i was Hyper-tension 3rd stage, and that's imminent stroke territory.
i've lost 8 friends in the past 8 weeks to heart attacks and cancer. Had to put my dog down. Income isn't what it was thanks to the great plandemic, and well, it's hard on all of us. So the Emerge Doc thinks stress caused it but calm won't cure it. I'm stuck on drugs.
It could have been a lot worse.

Dude take care of yourself - seriously.
And also seriously that post sounds like a country song so bust out a tele and get to twangin.
Only thing missing is the part about the ex-wives so throw that in there.
Iβll take 20% for the writing tips!

Prayers Ward, for your health, to further improve. Sorry to hear, you went through all that.
We need you (and John K.) around. Otherwise I'm liable to wax poetic about Type C Exciters/Nanocompressors and the like! Chris P.S. Condolences regarding the passing of those close to you. Also a dog lover too...

Take care of yourself ward, we need you, you're one of the guys whose posts keep me going.
I just spent a couple of nights in the hospital, complete kidney failure due to prostate problems. Yes, I'm that old.
Fortunately I've been on a keto diet for the last year and a half, lost 60 pounds, cured my diabetes, cured my cholesterol problems, lowered my blood pressure. If I hadn't done that, I would probably be dead now. As it is, the doctors couldn't believe how quickly my kidneys recovered, they were expecting a much longer hospital stay. I think I'm lucky I caught it early before the kidneys self-destructed.

I pray everyone here will get to and remain in optimal health, in body, mind and wallet. That is beautiful and so altruistic. What I work hard to teach the kids (5 of them) is to put others first, always. Wish well upon others and follow Matt 5:44 to the letter. And thanks all, I am improving. I had no idea how sick I was, Just thought I was run down.

Bingo! I was not looking after myself for most of the six years in the studio. Long days, poor diet, lack of exercise etc painful joints and chronic acid reflux.
I started cycling and walking but my weight didn't come down. (103 KGS - 227lbs)
My doctor advised my to follow the recommended 'healthy' low fat diet. So I did for five months and it was only then my blood test came back for the first time as pre-diabetic after following the diet and I had lost almost no weight inspite of the diet and exercising.
My doctor accused me of not following the diet and said I must be 'cheating'. I assured her I wasn't. Then I started doing my own research as to why most diets don't work. At the beginning of the COVID saga one thing that stood out was co-morbidities led to far worse outcomes. Then came the revelation. INSULIN RESISTANCE. For those who don't know what that is I suggest you educate yourselves. In a nutshell I discovered Keto and cut out sugar and carbs. 12 months later I had lost 20kgs (44lbs) was no longer pre-diabetic, reflux gone (off medication) and have never felt better since I was 25. My doctor literally didn't recognise me when I returned for a checkup 3 months ago. She walked past me twice in the waiting room looking for me. After my last blood tests came back as no longer pre-diabetic she praised me for following her advice but here's the rub. I told her I did NOT follow her advice and following her advice (low fat, higher carb) is what pushed me into pre-diabeties. When said I went Keto and she was shocked and chastised me saying Keto was an unproven fad and would cause me health issues. I asked her to explain if that was the case why had my health so vastly improved? She couldn't and suggested I must be mistaken. This is the standard response from most doctors who have been suckered into the corporate processed food dietary guidelines lie.

Yes, my hospital stay was hilarious in how doctors and nutritionists don't know anything about nutrition. The meals they tried to give me, out of pure ignorance on their part, were as if designed to make sure someone was diabetic and insulin resistant by the time they left the hospital. Fortunately, my wife brought me actual healthy food.
To say keto is a fad is so ridiculous, keto is a natural diet that our bodies have adapted and evolved to over hundreds of thousands of years. It's really only the last 60 years or so that fat has been vilified and replaced by sugar for flavour, and incidence of obesity, cancer, alzheimers, etc. all increased. All done by the sugar and processed food industries, who along with the drug companies support the medical schools and to a large extent determine what they are allowed to research and to publish.
I had diabetes and cholesterol and blood pressure problems for the last 20 to 30 years. After starting keto in August 2019, my diabetes was gone within six weeks. My endocrinologist was surprised when I told him his high-carb low-fat diet was making me gain weight, when I switched to low-carb high-fat I lost fat without effort. I told him that I'm going to continue till I can stop my statin cholesterol drugs. He actually asked "Why would you want to get off the drugs?" Wow! Because I'm sick and want to cure the disease instead of just bury the symptoms. I dropped him as a doctor.
So I've stopped multiple daily diabetes, cholesterol, and blood pressure drugs. I think my endocrinologist has lost a certain amount of income he gets from prescribing these drugs, I really feel bad for him. Right.
Fortunately some of the best doctors in the world are bucking the nutritional advise they were given at medical school, much to their professional peril, and they are actually helping their patients.

My sister is about to go through chemo, and in making lists of questions various family members keep bringing up the need to get nutritional advice from doctors, well intentioned, but in my view that's so far down doctors list of 'expected patient behaviors and outcomes' they don't bother unless really pushed, and they don't necessarily know a lot since it's not front line.

One would think if it is stress related then reducing stress should reduce your BP. If possible Iβm for fixing the cause (if possible) rather than taking a pill.

Doctors get almost no training in nutrition in Med School, its a shame. We have hospital nutritionists but even then they're under utilized and IME work primarily with people with feeding/gut issues, not with people who have food related illnesses like diabetes etc. Best wishes to you and your sister. Have her look into Keto Diets and its effect on chemo. Google "metabolic theory of cancer". There's some good info and some studies that are starting to show the effect that a Keto (or low carb) diet can have on cancer, specifically in conjunction with chemo. As always, do your research.
