So after a long 6 years I have finally finished this project. It's a kit from vintagemicrophonepcbkit.com - Dany Bouchard's parts. It sounds pretty darn good, to me.
I used an AMI T49 transformer and Dany's own M7 capsule.
I haven't played much this year since I have some health issues but here is a stab at some stuff. Through my Phoenix DRS preamp.

This is a tune I'd heard but never played so be forewarned I was reading it from the realbook. Harder to play these days physically but, I really like how this is picking up my Cordoba c9.

I would have never guessed you weren’t 100% from listening. Amazing sounding mic and playing. Better than most I hear around here! Hope your health improves and you keep having fun with the new mic.
Also I love that tune. Great choice.

Also I love that tune. Great choice. Thanks for the kind words and encouragement! Always fun to get to know a new mic. By the end of building it, I was sort of frustrated because I'm no electronics wizard and had to learn some things as I went. I thought "never again!" but after hearing it, I'm getting ready to do another ha ha.
It's interesting how each group of guys tends towards their own standards to play on gigs, and this is one I don't think I've heard anyone really play. It's such a great song!
Here is where I first heard the song. My favorite player of the jazz days, Barry Galbraith, doing some of his legendary comping behind Carol Stevens in this funny(narration) documentary about jazz. (14 min 43 sec)

Sounds good. I've got a D7 capsule in my m49B build but I'm swapping it out for a Neumann k47 soon. What tube do you have in yours?
