Is the International Standards Organization buying or selling? I'd ask location, but I'm pretty sure they're still in Switzerland.

I believe my buddy Buster Allen is selling one. It’s probably not listed for sale yet. His website is Allen-Sound.com

If you want the peace of mind that it's in solid shape, I'd consider Tom Onofrio. It might be a few bucks more but I got my 70's ish one from him.

If you’re still looking, U87 in the 39,000 range just popped up on Reverb moments ago. This would be 1982-1984-ish.
Looks good. Doesn’t pass breath test so will need a “re-skinned” capsule.

Nothing beats a great vintage U87. I've owned a few. The one I have now is amazing. Love it on vocals and with a KM84 on guitar.

I noticed the vintage U87 sold about an hour or two after I posted the above, jcoutu1. Was that you, by chance? I wanted to say... Regarding an old U87 like this... There IS another "quick fix" option that I'm aware of when a mic capsule fades out by breathing on it, and that is to unsolder and then flip around and remount/resolder the dual-sided capsule so that the back is now the front. That can get some extra mileage for you, allowing you to use the back side (which has probably NEVER been sung into directly) which was skinned originally when the mic was being prepared to ship out 40+ years ago. A re-skinning, from what I read of Klaus conversations scattered all over, will change the sound of the mic (and probably drop the value, depending upon who does the work). Chad

Chad, wasn't me. My 87 search is currently on hold. Money went to a bigger purchase first. Probably 6 months away at this point. When I do get the 87 though, I'm going to want one in tip top shape. Hoping for it to see a decent amount of work in fig-8, so I'll need both sides performing well.
