I’ve been eyeing UAD Unison amp sim plug-ins for a while now. I got the Marshall Plexiglass Classic and the Ampeg SVT Classic with my Apollo Twin X Duo last fall and they sound just fine. The classic versions won’t let you access or store some presets. No problem. I keep looking for a clean Fender sound, but even on sale, the least desirable (based on price point) amps go for $89-$99. I’ve been down the UAD plug-in rabbit hole enough times to spend $thousands$; I don’t want to go there again. Based on forum experiences at TDPRI, I started looking at the Joyo American Sound pedal. $35 on Amazon. They claim it can recreate tweed, brown and blackface Fender sounds. I own an original ‘59 Bassman and a BF VibroChamp, plus I’ve played through several Deluxes. I’d say the AS does a reasonable job of copping those tones, direct into the Duo. Maybe it’s an inexpensive substitute for some of those expensive UAD plugins. Or other brands. Anybody else have any experience with this, or want to comment?

I have their AC30 pedal. It’s a one of my favorite overdrives and gets used a ton.
For direct recording I use it into a GE200 using a good (ownhammer) cabinet IR and it’s better (for me) than a purely amp sim based approach. I have boutique pedals and really cheap ones. They’re all useful to me.

Yes, an IR pedal, such as a Two Notes C.A.B. has been recommended to follow the AS. I’m looking forward to trying that next. Really happy so far!

I'm looking at one of the Mooer mini pedals (Day Tripper) as a cheap amp in a pedal in case one of my amps goes out on a show. For $79, seems good but would want to try out...

Half the price! Low risk, for sure. Half the price, but almost 4x the size - need the mini pedal size to fit on my Temple Audio board. But agree that a lot of folks like the Joyo stuff.

I have two of the Mooer pedals they are decent sounding for sure perhaps a bit of a pushed sound but I have no idea how these compare to the actual thing I'm just looking for some cool sounds first I bought the EVH3 Brown Sound I was looking for a hyped crunchy metal tone and it delivers on that pretty well then I grabbed a Two Stones - it's based on the Coral Two Rock an obscure amp I never heard of it before but the online demos of that one sounded good to me. Good tone from this thing the boost channel really sings for bluesy rock soloing type stuff. Having no experience with the Synergy preamp system I would describe these pedals as a more affordable version where you are getting a digital model instead of a real circuit copy of the amp. I think there are quite a few good amp in a pedal options available these days.
