I read that the DNS routing records were gone. Since that would also stop email and IOT devices as well, it corroborates the reports that employees can't access emails, IP phones, badge readers don't work so they can't access buildings and conference rooms, etc.
They made everything too cool for school and it's backfiring spectacularly.

I guess I should say that what I meant is that it doesn't need to be any more than DNS routing problems. The code will be backed up all over the place on redundant systems, but if the DNS routing is gone then those won't fail over.

I would imagine to be a publicly listed company with world wide share holders, they'd be some pretty serious laws and rules surrounding the robustness of your digital infrastructure - no doubt even in the event of a apocalyptic event "Facebook" would still be up and running!

Sadly, it's back. Propaganda can now return to running amok.

It's been a long time, but i totally get what you mean, sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie! But hey, who knows, right? It's fun to imagine a world without Facebook and Instagram sometimes.

Hey there! Yeah, the idea of Facebook having some mythical "master code" tucked away in a basement sounds like something unreal, doesn't it? I mean, come on, it's 2023, and tech companies have evolved way beyond that! But hey, let's admit it, the idea of Facebook and Instagram suddenly disappearing is a bit mind-boggling. They've become such a massive part of our daily lives. Whether we love them or hate them, they're here to stay, at least for now. On a different note, it's always interesting how the internet rumor mill can get people thinking about selling facebook accounts. The internet sure has a way of making everything seem possible, even when it's not!

I would do a little dance if FB came crashing down, but then I have to admit that I would freak out if it was Amazon.
