Offering up one of my John Hardy M1 2 channels preamps for trade. These don’t have the VU meter option (can be purchased from John Hardy) but they do have the optional output transformer. Scratches on the top and bottom but racked up that’s not noticeable. New this configuration would be $1445. These are some of my favorite preamps but I have another one and there’s a bunch at the studio so…
Would love to trade for a DBX 165A, DBX 162, Elysia nvelope (rack not 500 series), Chandler Germanium compressor, Buzz Audio DBC-20, Overstayer MAS, TK Audio TK-Lizer 2, Buzz Audio Zodiak-DCX, Empirical Labs FATSO Jr, or a Coles 4038
Or would sell for $1100 plus shipping

Ps, how is it configured : no vu’s I understand, which transformer ? Thx,
Options:
• VU-1 meter. Very accurate and informative 20 segment LED meter card with separate peak LED for monitoring preamp output.
• PK-1 Peak LED metering only (not required if VU-1 is installed).
• JT-11-BMQ Output Transformer. Jensen's best line output transformer.
• Pin 2 Or Pin 3 High. Can be ordered either way and internal jumpers make changes in the field easy.

Thx, so no visual indication of level at all, just set by rotary and ear ?

If you are using a DAW you'll have visual indication of level there but there's no meter or peak indicator light on the unit itself. But there aren't VU or peak meters on a lot preamps (Neve and API) so it hasn't really been a problem. But, the VU meters John Hardy uses are really great.

So, all the sonic goodness , op amps and both transformers, but no visual indication of signal but could be retrofitted for $270-$300, with shipping ?

Exactly. The VU cards are $135 from John. There is a 7 pin connector that they plug into, so install doesn't require any soldering.

If i were buying one new, I’d skip the metering.
