Congrats, Eric!! Looks like a real winner, once again!
Collaborations are great. Without them, many of the new products we are enjoying wouldn't make it out to market.
Wishing you much success with everything!

I was just reading my email about this.
I didn’t think it was possible, but that preamp is both cool and hot!

Could you clue us into what kind of products you may be coming in with? EQ/Comp? No problem at all. Yes, I can give a little info... a Locomotive tube EQ, but not another Pultec. Trying to decide whether it can be mono or stereo due to tube, circuitry and size constraints I'm also working on a Weight Tank stereo processor that will include some fun features, which can be subtle or dramatic in changing the source's character. Also working on another compressor, but this one will be really wacky! And a couple more designs that I can't speak about at the moment. Thank you for your interest!

I'm trying to decide on how many DI / Reamp boxes I will need. I'm thinking maybe 6..... I'm thinking one after guitar, and two post pedal board - pre amp. X2. And the new stuff sounds spectacular. I know of at least ONE collab thing that needs to happen. LOL. You're not going to have enough hours in the day very soon. <thumbsup>

You mentioned the Locomotive 286 in a past thread comparing the Weight Tank and some Coils, but didn't share as much since it had been discontinued. I realize this is new stereo preamp is different from the 286, but would you care to share your thoughts regarding the this preamp and the previous mentioned field? (Or original Locomotive 286; if I'm misreading your previous post.)

I think Eric is the guy who can give more information about them. He has always been a straight shooter and totally upfront with me when I had / have questions. The 286A is super cool. I like the fact that it has both input Gain and output Level. Neither of which the Coil / Weight Tank have. If you want to get into driving harder and coloring sounds, that's very cool. The new pre looks like it's set up very similar in that regard. Not sure what the sonic differences are between the new 86B and the original 286A. Eric? @locomotive Audio
One thing for SURE that's EXTREMELY interesting to me is the incorporation of a true line input, with a separate Line input XLR on the Rear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay Eric!!!! Some manufacturers (LOCO) are listening! Thanks Eric. That way I can leave both my mic inputs and mix/line inputs hooked up at the same time without pulling cables from the back of the rack. It's looking more and more like I may need the new 86B as well.... LOL

If Eric/Locomotive Audio wants to comment, I'd be all ears.
I'm curious too: Are the GAIN pots dented/stepped?

If Eric/Locomotive Audio wants to comment, I'd be all ears. I'm curious too: Are the GAIN pots dented/stepped? The knobs are not detented... just simple continuous pots. So you might need to do a little gain matching with a signal when setting up for stereo line level work. And yes, this is the exact same circuit as the 286A, minus the shared VU meter, but plus the line inputs! The input impedance for the DI in the 86B-2 is much higher at 1.6 meg rather than 170k. For some engineers, that means a ton! A unit like the 86B-2 versus a European style unit like the WT-72 (V72 style) is that the harmonics build more gradually in the 86B-2 rather than Clean, clean, clean, then brickwall harsh distortion. So, having the two knobs can allow the user to really fine-tune how much transient and harmonic shaping they want. :-) Hope that helps!

Is there a difference between an amp-up box and a re-amp box? Or is that just marketing speak to sound different?

Whoa, a tube preamp temps me every time. I can vouch for the 286a. If Eric says this is the same, I'll vouch for this too.

I'm very happy to have one ordered My dual tube preamp searching and tossing up has finally come to an end. XLR line in is awesome, and it seems like this will give me a nice varied amount of sonic textures. Really keen to try it on synths as well !!

This might be exactly what I've been looking for in a stereo tube preamp. I can't do one right now, but I think I'll be owning one of these sooner than later.
