I tracked a record at The Church last month. It is, in fact, the Lanois 8068 (from his Teatro studio).
The building is largely a Leon Russell museum, but the most impressive thing about the studio is the incredible mic locker. Just about every vintage German mic you can imagine. I had a pair of M-49s on the room, and a C24 on drum overheads.
The studio is full of interesting history (not the least of which is Tom Petty stopping there and signing with Shelter Records before they could get to LA), and of course all the cool stuff Leon Russell had going on there.
One point that gets overlooked when folks talk about that studio is that Steve Ripley (The Tractors, Ripley stereo guitars, EVH, Ry Cooder, etc) had the building for almost 20 years. Interestingly enough, he ALSO had an 8068 installed there.

Some clients of mine recorded there over the summer. Killer looking place. Bummed I couldn't be a part of that aspect of the production on their record!

No, I imagine the producer mixed at home; I'm pretty sure that's how he generally works (it was my first time working with him, and with the band). We did a couple weeks of preproduction work and preliminary tracking at my place.

I had the privilege of knowing Steve Ripley (RIP), and hung out there several hours at a time with him half a dozen times in the late 90’s through early 2000’s when he owned The Church Studio. Such an interesting guy. He built a guitar for Eddie Van Halen, he had his own country band, The Tractors, and so unassuming and easy going.
My friends, Admiral Twin, recorded their album, Mock Heroic at The Church.
