I am a big fan of the Tone King amps having owned the Falcon, Metropolitan, and now loving the Sky King. Although I've not owned one, I really like the Imperial and have played it numerous times. I was looking at the Imperial Anniversary edition and liked it a lot, just decided I preferred the Sky King at the time.

It arrived this morning.
Wasn't expecting it till Monday.
Just had a quick play through it.
Its really two amps in one.
A) its the best fender princeton I have ever played, period.
Everything I love about my 65 princeton re issue , but better. Tighter, better reverb, tremolo to die for. Its like my old princeton is an interface preamp and this amp is a 1073. Damn its sweet. If like me you love fender princetons, then this is pretty much flawless.
B) the second channel, or the LEAD channel as they call it. Its a Fender Tweed.
I am not so familiar with that kind of amp. But I can see its versatility, and pretty quickly I had "Keef" type rhythm sounds out of it. But is has a MID BITE control (Don't think of it as a MIDS control on most amps) that changes the character considerably. I need to spend more time on this.
If this was only a single channel amp, its still worth it. Its expensive, sure. But I am 50 this year, god knows how many more spins I have around the sun...
Its beautiful.
cheers

Wiz,
I think you nailed it - it does the Blackface thing and the tweed tone really well all in one box.
I haven't played one in ages, and this was only in a guitar store. But they had a lot of nice amps in there and I'd play the Imperial and then something else and then the Imperial ... I just kept coming back to the Imperial.
Plus they just look really cool.
Congrats!
Cheers, Geoff

I played it once at Rudy's Guitars in NYC, and it was killer. Congrats wiz, you've got a keeper there.
