Strength in Solidarity
All of us at Soundtoys express our deep and profound thanks to everyone who shopped to donate – together we raised $111,850! As designated by you, here's where we are sending your gifts:
$48,000 to The Red Cross Society of Ukraine for protection, first aid, and essentials for injured and evacuated people.
$39,250 to Médecins Sans Frontières/ Doctors Without Borders for much-needed medical services and supplies.
$24,600 to World Central Kitchen to provide meals for those displaced and those fleeing the country.
...AND WE’RE NOT STOPPING THERE
From today forward, 100% of each Radiator purchase will be donated to not-for-profit organizations as a way for Soundtoys customers to join us in helping others. This is an ongoing pledge.
We’re directing these donations to the International Rescue Committee to help refugees whose lives are shattered by conflict and disaster in Ukraine and more than 40 other countries.
THANK YOU for your support, generosity, and for taking action.
Mix on,

UA steps up !!
An Open Letter of Support for Ukraine from Sandeep Gupta, COO, Universal Audio.
We at Universal Audio have been stunned and saddened by Russia's aggressive and inhumane invasion of Ukraine leaving millions of people displaced and in fear for their lives, families, and country. This includes Ukrainian members of the UA family that live and work in Kyiv.
Much of the world, including many governments and private corporations, has responded to this crisis with economic sanctions — hoping to move the Russian people to pressure their leadership to stop the war. After much consideration and discussion, we at Universal Audio have decided to act in support of the proud Ukrainian people.
As of today, we are pausing all UA sales and support activities in Russia and Belarus, and we have blocked all IP addresses from those countries on all our websites and services.
Secondly, beyond our own corporate donations, we have designated next Wednesday, March 16 as a special UA Giving Day. On that day, all online store proceeds will be donated to humanitarian relief efforts for the Ukrainian people. Please help spread the word!
We will continue to be in close contact with our Ukrainian staff as they defend their country and their families, some of whom have made it safely to Hungary. We will continue to apply pressure on Russia and do what we can to support the people of Ukraine and will stand with others who choose to do the same.
We hope that actions by the world community and companies like ours will bring an end to this senseless violence and look forward to a more peaceful future.
Sandeep Gupta COO Universal Audio

Sandeep Gupta COO Universal Audio Props to Soundtoys and UA for the positive things they are doing, but this - "As of today, we are pausing all UA sales and support activities in Russia and Belarus, and we have blocked all IP addresses from those countries on all our websites and services," is not helpful in my opinion. I think they are getting this completely wrong. It's important to not punish citizens for what their government is doing. If things are ever going to change in a place like Russia, I would imagine the arts are going to have a lot to do with it. I would highly encourage Universal Audio not to punish artists anywhere. Lord knows I would not want to be judged and/or punished in some way for the actions of the US government.

If anyone would appreciate the irony of a revolution from within, it would be Russia: right ?

Any financial contribution benefits people in hardship and under duress: can we please focus on the positive, no one is compelled to take these supportive actions, they or companies do it to help and to build positive community support: it’s a good thing or they could be supporting the distressed German economy, by doing nothing but buying Porsches.

I get it but when you posted the UA blurb here did that part not stand out to you at all? I would love to focus on the positive which begs the question, why do UA & Plugin Alliance think they have to take the further, unnecessary step of cutting off sales & support to Russia? That only hurts our community(artists). I’d love to see where in their user agreement, when you download their software, it says they can block you from further support if your government does something they don’t agree with.

This is very kind of you guys, it's really disturbing times here in Europe. It's crazy, I already asked a friend in NC/USA if she gives me shelter in case everything fails. Luckily, she said YES...

I think the shutdowns are a way to motivate folk to tell their leaders to stop this action so they can return to living their lives.

Exactly. I get the pro artist argument and not to sound paranoid but does anyone actually trust Russia and it’s agendas around actively disseminating misinformation , distorting elections in other countries etc.?
I have heard credible new stories about the numbers (1,000’s)of hackers and others it hires to support all its net activities: audio is just another tool in that tool box.
Whether we like to admit it or no company’s software use agreement is written to protect user rights: the language is there to protect the company’s IP etc..
These are difficult unusual times, the more pressure that can be brought to bare asap on changing the Russian stance, whether from external or internal pressures, as innocent Ukrainian live hang in the balance, the better.
Does anyone really think Putin has no other geopolitical ambitions: one and done in the Ukraine ?

What's next, a new plugin called "Virtue Signal"? As a world superpower punches down on a neighboring sovereign democracy by invading under totally propagandistic pretenses, a bit of public international support for the men and women defending their freedom and some recognition for the civilians being murdered (or, as you put it, "virtual signaling") is probably a rather welcome -- even necessary -- thing.

I lend my full support to the common people of Ukraine and everywhere else in the world. I have a FB friend in a studio in Russia who is posting (via VPN) about first being cut off from his PT Subscription, then UA’s message, then Plugin Alliance. The thing is he now can’t provide for his family … so by cutting off these services to “encourage” the local population to protest in Rusia are we expecting them to put themselves in harms way? Because thats what it iwould be under such a regime. Not criticizing any action taken by anyone in all this except of course Putins invasion… but it really is a messed up situation all round. I just hope it finishes fast but these things have a way of dragging on unfortunately …

It does not need to be political. One of my values goes along with the Song WAR by Springsteen. Will never forget how my Grandpa spoke with an "Enemy" after WW2. Both had the Springsteen opinion - What is it good for? NOTHING...

It’s easy to support private companies as they sanction Russia because that action tends to align with everyone’s feeling about this situation. But I worry about this trend and what it means for the future when international companies, with no real allegiance to any sovereign nation, take it upon themselves to sanction other nations/states. It’s a slippery slope. Do we, as consumers, want to face private sanctions for the actions of our government? That could easily happen, even from our own domestic companies. What happens when Apple or Google or Tesla or Microsoft etc decide they don’t like a law that was passed in a certain US State and cut IP addresses from those people?
If private companies want to help, they should stick to fund raising for the victims of this war. But Sanctions and active economic aggression by unelected, unaccountable corporate overlords is a dangerous precedent.

Russia is doing the same exact thing the US has been doing for years. The only difference is this conflict is called an "invasion". When the US does it, it's an "intervention".

It's easy to give to those in need without making a huge drama / virtue signaling highlight out of it. I'd suggest that that's what companies who really care are doing - not using a horrific geo-political situation for sales advantage.
I spent some time in Moscow after the "wall" came down in the early 90's. The people were wonderful, helpful, and so giving. Exactly the opposite of what the US government had painted them to be all my youth. I really hate the fact that sanctions are going to hurt the common man more than the powers they seek to influence.
When do the US and NATO based countries sanctions start for their roles in the mess?
JK - feel free to delete if too political. There is NO discussion of these matters without getting hip deep in politics.
