Looking for an authentic chambered c12 capsule for my 251 build. Heiserman and Tim Campbell are extremely busy, so what are some other options? Beesneez, OPR, Haun, Josephson. Is it even possible to get a haun or Josephson capsule?

What do you want, something that provides great quality or something NOW!!!
Me, I'd take the former.

The Josephson capsule is definitely more of an “inspired by” capsule than trying to fully recreate the CK12. But their stuff is quality. I believe a capsule is $7-$800

I have a josephson capsule in my BSA 251. Its nice enough. I like it more then my Bock 251 capsule. I did have a Beesneez c12 and it sounded really nice. but alas it failed . I have not used an opr yet. Still uncertian about that one. I do like the Upton one.

Was just curious. However, even after many years of great use, I probably would have contacted him to let him know of the failure and find out the possibility of bringing it back to its former glory; especially if I was ecstatic with the sound. With that said, we all get distracted with the potential possibilities of sounds from other options out there.

Josephson has always said they don’t sell their capsules or anything else, outside their microphones as a whole… But I’ve gotten the impression over the years that there’s some hush hush going on to certain people. I’m not one of them or care to be, so I’ve never tried. Same goes for MBHO.

My experience with Beesneez (two capsules for U67 clones) has been very good.

Does anyone have any experience with Austrian Audio? Do they make their own capsules?

They make their own capsules, but don’t sell them separately. I use the OC818s in omni often, with great success on Leslie cabs, Rhodes, and guitar amps.

Well from my experience, I’ve had them all from Heiserman to Tim Campbell to Haun and of course a real Telefunken CK 12. ADK’s C 12 capsule probably comes closest. The haun capsule is dark. It’s very smooth but it’s dark. It’s not tuned properly as a CK 12 capsule should be, but it’s very smooth. I’ve never heard Bens except for samples on the Internet. I heard that’s a good one, but from my experience Heiserman nailed it as well as a ADK

The capsules they made for Bock are not the same and not available to anyone other than Bock.

I’ve always heard great things about it, regardless! Tim’s is great! Ben’s is great! I still need to put my OPR pair in some mics!

I think one of the most important factors here is we need to acknowledge and respect that we have to very different factors here; the idea of favorite, & historically accurate. They are not necessarily different but we have to keep in mind the criteria is very different.

I would get the AMi/Telefunken one.
At least it comes from an authentic source.

Kinda ironic you'd call those hustlers "authentic source".

I don't know if there is some sort of break up, but they were associated together at one time. And it wouldn't surprise me at all if all of these mic parts were made in China.
I question the boutique ones because of the type of facility you would have to have to make them.

Telefunken USA was the importer to the US of some Telefunken AG stuff. When AEG/Telefunken went under in Germany, they acquired the US rights to the brand name. There are many brands (Apex, AKG, MXL...) that do the same thing; selling Chinese mics with a bit of extra quality control and some mods. Only, these other companies don't want your left kidney for a mic. It's like a Pontiac Fiero with a Brabus logo.

And they make their mics and Nuemann's Mic parts.
I heard Shure was moving the capsule making out of China since they moved the assembly part of it to Mexico.
So, what you see on alibaba(china freight) is all their over runs, rejects and b stock.
