That was interesting. A couple of observations.
1. I don't think most people have the time to do this so they would prefer to just buy the kit eq.
2. As a YouTuber in this same space, I must say I am not a fan at all of the drama and cable news type of approach of some of these channels, I know it gets traffic but I find it rather annoying. Don't get me wrong, if there is a huge issue that needs to be called out, fine...but running every new plug in that is released through plugin dr. trying to find one little thing to create drama about is getting a little old. Download a demo, if it sounds good to you, use it, if not, don't buy it and move on.
I don't think anyone who is actually engineering for a living has time for stuff like this. Oddly enough A LOT of YouTubers in this space are not full time engineers and actually never have been for whatever that's worth.
My recommendation to people for a long time has been, if you find a YouTuber that interest you, go find examples of their work right away! If you like what they do, then you're all set. If their work sucks then their advice probably does too.

Ugh, what an insufferable twat. Why must so many on youtube act like complete buffoons? It makes me genuinely sad for humanity that this sort of thing appeals to anyone.

SNIPPED THE QUOTE OF THE QUOTE . . . Ugh, what an insufferable twat. Why must so many on youtube act like complete buffoons? It makes me genuinely sad for humanity that this sort of thing appeals to anyone. The 'pro' audio world is filed with pontificators who merely research and repeat other people's experiences and opinions as if they were their own. Take everything you read or hear on YouTube with a grain of salt.

In one of the classes I teach, I blew the studentsā minds when I noted that no real professional has time to churn out regular content, and as such, is in no position to pontificate with authority about the process of record making in the real world. Iām very pleased to say a rather large number of lightbulbs appeared over their young heads š¤£

There are studios in my area with gear that costs more money than god and neither can they afford to maintain all the stuff they advertise as having nor is it even possible for some of it due to discontinued parts, companies no longer functionally exist or are overseas, and many techs who knew how to fix certain pieces of equipment are sadly gone. So they have the 500 series racks of utilitarian stuff anyone with a job can buy and frequently worse than what many people own at home or is available itb now. Not that they can run those plugs all over the mix because often the studio runs off some old Mac. And the big money mains? You better bring in whatever easily transportable nearfields youāre used to. I imagine itās even worse for guys who had racks and racks of accumulated stuff like Michael Brauer.

Dude I saw the satin video from White Sea. He just decked satin, still the most flexible and hifi tape plug, passed when any tape machine would sound like crap (0VU is -0dbfs) and said āit doesnāt sound like a real tape machineā

Iām very pleased to say a rather large number of lightbulbs appeared over their young heads š¤£ Alsoā¦ triple post before I have to go but you and Ward will agree on this: new gear and plugs meant to sound cool that wastes time with no documentation or guides on how to integrate them into your work flow. Theyāre meant to sound cool without solving a problem. And nobody who has ever worked on a record would ever want it or think of it and prefers that it didnāt exist because it creates more problems that take more time to solve. Unlike old stuff that just happened to sound cool based on the tech available that solved problems. Tons and tons of new plugs and gear that donāt do anything but mess stuff up and never in a way that saves time like a good bus compressor or some of the crazier or subtle saturators. The exact opposite of the Sonnox Oxford and Tokyo Dawn and Sound Radix plugs. Which all save time and are self descriptive or with indepth manuals for the weirder stuff. And the developers will answer questions about how to use it. And their easy mode āproducerā stuff doesnāt fuck up the sound with crap processing with tons of artifacts like Waves emulations and āendorsedā plugs, Izotope (Nectar and Ozone mostly suck), or stock daw non linear plugins (most are crappy with the odd gem in every daw that half the time is licensed or bought). My life would be easier if like the Izotope āAIā crap, jokey waves cla plugs, or any of the subscription bundles mostly filled with distorted crap (Slate, Plugin Alliance, Kush) didnāt exist. Same the Warm and Klark Technics and really almost all other clones and emulations. They create new problems

Ugh, what an insufferable twat. Why must so many on youtube act like complete buffoons? It makes me genuinely sad for humanity that this sort of thing appeals to anyone. He suffers from Aspurgers.

I mean Tchad Blake every where like Idris Elba last week, I like the guy but every time I turned on the TV there he was.
