Anybody using these? Would be an incredible tool for the studio, something I could definitely use.

John : Transperformance have been in business since 1991 (or 1989). No wonder some videos look "dated".
Odyssey76 : indeed a very good tool for the studio. Remember the guitar doesn't play by itself.

Any decent player knows feel and tension is most important. Just the weather messes up my neck tension. If too dry, the necks all move away from the strings. Too humid, the strings rattle.
Imagine the slop created by alternative tunings? Retune, adjust neck, set intonation, rinse and repeat.
I'd rather just grab another guitar set up that way.

While you need to change guitar some very creative songwriters and performers work with these. We are talking here of 344 memories, changing tuning while playing, speed of the motors editable (bpm / ms.....if my memory if good). This is so much more than just changing guitar.

Michael Wagener is currently using the Tronical system. He spoke highly of it, when a guy like that says so I tend to believe it.

What sucks is they only fit a few guitar tuning key sizes and only work with light strings also. I use pretty heavy strings in lower tunings on several lap steels, where this could benefit me greatly from having to drag several guitars on fly dates, but none of the peghead slots fit any lap steels modern or vintage and the motors won't turn .060 gauge strings much less .070's for the bottom strings on an open B or C tuned lap steel. I hope they make some different versions once they do well in the market with what they have accomplished so far.
Fingers crossed,
R

I have a guitar (Les Paul) with the Transperformance system installed. I've had it for 10 years this year, and it is flawless. Expensive, but for what I need it for, there is no alternative. If you use a lot of different tunings, this is the answer.
