So Uncle e at jrr and David at Cinemag have been very helpful identifying the best CM transfo for the new JRR NOS Ribbon: CM9887, so i ordered two. I will mod one mike then redo the shootout video. In my first video ,i HPF at about 100 but Cat5 suggested, maybe I shouldn't , so people can hear the different responses if I move in on the mikes. Consensus is ? Attachment Deleted

I only cut at 40 and below if i'm showing a mic example, and never eq(including notches 8) or compress, it's not a true representation if you do that, i do however do my best mic placement to give the mic/manufacturer/or diy a fair shot at the best sound it can achieve.

good advice thanks, mod went fine and I personally think the panther sounds improved; more textured and detailed and clearer; anyway I will redo the shoot out and post clips on soundcloud so you can download if you want better resolution than youtube !
I am doing a diy video of the mod too; pretty simple really !

Was setting up my shootout session today , level matching the 3 mikes (panther mod , panther stock and vinjet ) using apollo pres. The CineMag transformer has increased the output on the panther about 3-4 db.
David at CineMag said it would be hotter and he was right !
