Had to drive a ways to find a store that had it. And that’s after years of casually looking at whatever store I was in. It was on my radar because I looked up who was using non GMO corn to make their mash. 4 Roses. Wild Turkey. Buffalo Trace. And if you count Jack Daniels, since it’s basically filtered bourbon. Other three I tried right away. Buffalo Trace was my white whale. Buffalo Trace makes Benchmark FWIW... Among many other brands. I would assume they are ALL non-GMO based on how Buffalo Trace distillery operates -only using a few set mash bills for all their products like EH Taylor, Blanton's, Benchmark, Bowman Bros, Weller, etc etc P.S. Where do you live?

Got some Benchmark Single Barrel.
Good stuff. Not sure it’s that much better at $25 than the small batch at $17. Regardless—good to have another budget option that doesn’t taste like young cheap whiskey.

Ok—head to head….benchmark single barrel vs small batch.
If you add a touch of water the single barrel might be a little richer…but just in a glass neat “as bottled”, the cheaper small batch is better balance, IMO.
Funny thing about this whole expedition? The local shop had a few Buffalo Trace today. I’d swear first time in the years I’ve been looking. And cheaper than the place I drove to in order to find it….

Nice! Already said it, but Benchmark is definitely under the radar good value. If the non-GMO corn thing doesn't matter, JTS Brown bottled in bond, or Evan Williams bottled in bond are decent and cheaper.

Why? Corn whiskey arguably wouldn’t even exist without GMO techniques

Ever had American Light Whiskey? It's like 99% corn and sweeeet. Super high proof but drinkable. First time I had a bottle of King's Single Barrel Select 16 year, I thought it waws the best thing I'd ever tasted...but its definitely one note. But it's a damn good note.

Why? Corn whiskey arguably wouldn’t even exist without GMO techniques No one is objecting to the plant grafting/cross breeding of corn. The objection is that 99% of non organic corn in the US is made from Monsanto seed that is genetically modified to be immune to their highly toxic pesticide. Meaning they sell the corn seed….and then the pesticide to overspray because the corn is immune….their GMO plants are finding their way onto organic farms via nature—wind, animals….and they sue those farmers claiming they owe them for their patented seed. They’re a nasty company. FWIW. Just information because you asked.

Interestingly- from what I've read - most bourbon is non-GMO these days, even the big producers... Buffalo Trace, Four Roses, Barton, Wild Turkey etc etc.
