Hey All, I do some basic design work (gig flyers, album covers, tshirts, etc), but can't justify paying $55/month for Adobe.
I was using my work laptop, which is set up with Adobe CS, but super locked down (can't connect external drive). Anyway, work just shut down all attachments to personal email address, so I have no way to get anything off the machine in any legit manner, so I need an alternative solution.
Also, FYI, on a Mac.

For simple stuff, like posters, flyers, post cards, simple web graphics etc, Canva is pretty good. It's overly simple and dumbed down compared to photoshop... I mean its not even trying to be the same product really. But its super simple and does the easy stuff well enough and the free version is...free.

I've been using Pixelmator for the last year or two ..after Acorn died on me and wouldn't happily upgrade. Before that I used something that ran on GIMP, the name of which eludes me right now. I haven't used Pixelmator that much yet, but for whatever reason I've been finding the transition a bit strange ..less intuitive. Manipulating simple vector graphics is, well ..just not as simple as it should be, same with layers ..but then I'm an old dog and don't always take well to the new tricks.
