Hey,
can you tell me more about the advantages of sitting in the second third in the small room and having everything setup accordingly with speakers soffit mounted? I can't seem to find anything about it online sadly

Hey, can you tell me more about the advantages of sitting in the second third in the small room and having everything setup accordingly with speakers soffit mounted? I can't seem to find anything about it online sadly It's all to do with avoiding nulls in the bass response of the room, it's only a guide. Head to GIK for more advice and videos on the subject. gikacoustics.co.uk/acoustic-advice/Check this page out - if you scroll to the bottom you'll see some useful videos on the subject.

IN almost all control rooms, regardless of size, that I've been in, the sweet spot is between the middle and the first third.

Thanks, but there is no info on sitting in the 66% of the room on that page. You need to click on the graphic "Basics of Room set-up" Here's the page link. gikacoustics.co.uk/basics-room-setup-acoustic-panels-bass-traps/It’s recommended that you should start experimenting with listening position set to about 35% – 40% of the wayIf will take you some time to work your way through all the text and info but it's all there.

Thanks, but there is no info on sitting in the 66% of the room on that page. Here's a trick: you can stick a speaker in the corner and load up the bass intentionally. The spot where it sounds the least bad is where you will want to sit.

thehightenor it would seem they are suggesting exactly what I did. It usually turns out that way.

They designed the treatment for my room and it looks almost identical to that photo GIK provide very effective solutions and the room is very well controlled and enables my ATC 25’s to be a reliable reference.

Hey man, I have a question: what are your walls made of? Concrete, bricks, plasterboard, wood? Because it makes a huge difference Bricks with wood studding insulated then covered with plaster board then skimmed - traditional room construction. Well, that is much better for acoustics than reinforced concrete I'm surrounded by right now which means I would need a lot more of that good GIK stuff to get similar results.

i would downlad the free room measuring software www.roomeqwizard.com/ than position one speaker, a chair listen and measure. start with the speaker almost right up the wall - measure, move the speaker some 10-20cm away from the wall into the room - measure and so on. thats the best way and how i did. takes a day or two but its worth it. you never know where the speakers end up … dont let general internet advice decide for you and your room and your speakers.
