I recently purchased an FX888D soldering station and have had a strange issue. I'm getting shocked while using it. It happens when I'm holding the iron in one hand, and solder in the other, while my feet (no shoes) are touching the concrete floor. I also get shocked through the top of the plastic case on the control unit when my feet are touching the concrete floor. It's not a huge biting shock, but tingly enough to be uncomfortable. Is there a grounding issue with my Hakko?

Is there a grounding issue with my Hakko? Wow. Never heard of such a thing, but yes that's some kind of grounding issue. YOU are becoming a ground for something. Now, we don't know if it's the Haako or if it's your outlet/feed though.

I'm well past the Microcenter return window. I emailed Hakko, and they pretty much said it was something on my end. But, they would take a look at it if I mailed it in. I suppose I'm going to have to pay for shipping both ways, and most likely a bench or repair fee (if needed), so wouldn't I fair just as well buying a new one? Sucks that's the reality. Disposable product culture.

That shouldn't be like that. The Irons are always bonded to the Earth GNd pin

That shouldn't be like that. The Irons are always bonded to the Earth GNd pin Agreed. But I suppose this indicates a wiring issue, potentially with the room, no? Decades ago, when I moved in here, the detached back room that is now my office/studio had problems with ground loops, and if i stood barefoot on the linoleum tile floor, I'd get a tingle if my lips touch my SM58. But in insulting the room and putting up drywall to replace the cheap wood paneling, my electrician friend rewired the room. Ran need wire from the main panel at the house, added a sub-panel on the room, grounding stake outside, metal conduit with stranded wire to three-prong receptacles. I don't know what gauge wire they used originally for the run to the room, but I recall my friend commenting on it. I suspect that, and the ground, were the key ingredients (I think the rest of the original wiring was a typical two-conductor Romex installation). I'm guessing the Hakko probably has a legitimate ground, but the ground it's connected to at the receptacle is not at "earth", where the feet are. A wiring fault in the Hakko itself seems less likely—not with getting just a "tingle". Sound reasonable? (Yes, the thread is old enough I'm sure this is long since resolved...but might still be worth bringing up if it's the room wiring, because that will eventually show up in a another way.)
