I've been waiting for this for a while! Anybody else? :-) I'm curious to hear it. I've always liked "Real Love" and "Free As A Bird," never seeing them as "proper" Beatles, but instead as the Threetles paying loving homage to their legacy and to John.

This is interesting too, using Beatles gear (while we're waiting for Now and Then) --> looks like a vintage C12:

Did we need this part - “Giles Martin, son of legendary Beatles producer George Martin, also added backing vocals from the original recordings of Here, There And Everywhere, Eleanor Rigby and Because, creating an extra layer of nostalgia.” - I guess we'll know after we hear it. Clearly the boys approved it.

Machine learning to isolate John’s voice: can’t wait to hear the full song

Hearing that snippet at around 10 min.: I just can't wait to hear the whole thing. I found myself surprised when Tom Petty died that I was somehow impacted emotionally in way that wasn't logical really, and I never met the man just loved his music. Hearing this is sort of the same thing: surprisingly causing more emotional attention from me than probably deserved but with the opposite (positive) vibe. Reminds of how a young kid feels waiting for Santa Claus to come at Christmas Eve.

Huge Beatles fan. Pretty cool track that sounds surprising cohesive, given the circumstances. I love Spike Stent's work, but I do not love the mix of the song.

Song is really pretty, but yeah I don’t like the mix. Wish it had the style and vibe of the 90s Jeff Lynne tracks.

Jeff Lynne rules! (Agreeing I wish he was involved) Listening to this it sounds HYPER compressed -->
But I definitely like hearing some new Beatles :-)

the vibe is great. love the melancholic atmosphere, the sadness, the changes in the song. proper pop song. think about it: a band, no more for 50 years, wipes the floor with todays pop songs. and it’s not even one of their best songs!

but the piano, i prefer the mumpy demo piano. a la imagine. has way more sadness than the finished pop mix.

Apropos last song. Love the Beatles and this feels pretty convincing to me - as being an accepted part of the canon.

hmm after repeated listening: i prefer the sadness of the demo. there are some moments in the „beatles“ song, but lennons sketch just keeps haunting me. maybe i am gonna rework it myself with all the cliches like mellotron, backwards guitars etc.

That Lennon vocal is really haunting. The post-mortem nature of the whole thing adds to it of course.
Made me a little emotional when they got it extracted and played it solo in the video.

I know…I was the same way. I’m a huge Beatles fan so maybe I’m more likely to like anything Beatles related…but it’s definitely haunting thinking about what could have been.

Made me a little emotional when they got it extracted and played it solo in the video. there‘s an isolated vocal around. i played a bit of guitar and piano to him singing. i tell ya, that was a rather strange feeling. i felt reverence.

I don’t know how to feel about that on first pass. Cool the 'original band' got to finish a last official thing fixing one of John’s recordings? Pretty astonishing angle really. I don’t know the orig tape here. Overall though, 'not the Beatles'. 10 minutes later I couldn't tell you how it goes.

I'm sure I'm alone in this, but I don't get it? Especially the vocal, half of it doesn't sound like John to me?

There is some explanation in this video (about Paul completing phrases, other changes, etc.):

On a side note, something happened today that made me decide to accept this a bit more than I would have into the "Beatles" canon (as opposed to audio Frankenstein). My 6 year old daughter has (thankfully!) become quite interested in music, sings, etc. and she knows I've liked the Beatles music for a while (something called Beat Bugs helped).
Anyway, I showed her the audio portion of the song a few days back while in the car and explained it was special because it was created by several musicians over more than 40 years, sort of explaining that John has been gone since before I was born, George since I was a teenager, and it was really cool that some of it was recorded sometime before 1980 originally, then a first pass of additions was done in the 1990s ("when I was a kid") and finally now they finished it up. Was sort of a short conversation and I didn't think much of it.
Fast forward until this morning, I was showing my wife the official music video on the TV in our living room and my daughter happened to be there watching too. When the song was about over I look over and my 1st grader has tears flowing down her face - I asked her what was wrong and she said "I miss the Beatles!"
This track may really spark yet another generation (or two!) of Beatles fans.
