Anyone have any experience with these? I’ve been jonesing for a J-45, but have some shoulder issues that a full body guitar doesn’t get along with. Started looking into the LG2 or L-00 and came across the Iris OG. Seems to be what I’m looking for, plus dig that they’re from a small company that’s from my neck of the woods(ish).

glancing at the title quickly I thought it said Irish guitars . . . and coming from Jesse, it made sense.
Ok, no Emerald brand fiberglass guitars here/
Cool tho !

Definitely play one before you order if at all possible. Their necks have an open pore kind of finish and I could feel the wood grain in my left hand. Didn't care for it. They're light and they sound great though.

Folkways down the highway an hour or so carries them. And they are quite discerning in what they stock. And, they helped design Iris’ take on an L-00. So, they like em. I have not tried one, however.
Cheers, Geoff

Not sure I’d like the Iris feel either though.

In that case most likely its the plasticizers in modern nitrocellulose finishes you don't enjoy the feel of... Which could rule out a number of instruments & builders aside from Gibson. They can all be a little sticky until the guitars are really played in. Or if you've got a big set of cojones you could take some 0000 steel wool to the neck and grind the finish away... Never heard of Iris guitars. I'll say in that price range... once you get into the $2500-3k world there's an awful lot of nice guitars out there. Take a couple field trips and play a bunch until something blows you away. Might even end up being a $600 Yamaha. Never know. Just don't get fooled by strings. Strings make such a huge difference on acoustics... 80/20 vs phosphor bronze will radically alter tone. Find a guitar you think you love? Ask 'em to put new strings on and see if you still love it.

My ohh my, I’m happy. Arrived a day early, sounds great and feels great. Setup feels good. Like the wooden feeling neck. Was a bit worried about neck thickness, but it feels great, bit slimmer than my Eastman. Very balanced tone. Playing soft or strumming hard it keeps the balance similar, to how I felt about the Gibson’s.
I’m not enough of a player to really describe the nuance or how it compares to many different things, but very happy with it!

I actually did learn that one on the guitar a couple month back when my girlfriend was working out her keys part! Sad to see Shane go. Wish I had the opportunity to see him live.

First release using the Iris. I’ve actually got a blend of the Iris (BeesNeez Lulu FET around the 14th fret) and my Taylor GS Mini (direct) because the Iris sounded too good for what I was looking for. Here’s the track…
