The web page that boast themselves as the number 1 pro audio community.
I used to visit that site, met some cool people there, but then they changed names and it appears now its more of a marketing site.
The cool people I met there never post anymore. So where did everyone go?

I noticed Goeff here, but Rick, Wavebourn and Sammy are not here. Thomas Beth, I still see him off and on as well as Massive the guy I send stuff to master from time to time on the prosound web, that seems like more of a maze to get around in.
I'm new on this site. Sorry for my rambling.

Was (as often) partly kidding. But the truth is, the "signal to noise" ratio is higher here versus GS. There are some super cool members, that mainly/entirely post there of course. But more relaxed here.  Sometimes I think from the "Junior" Pack level like me... To the Big Dogs that hang at these Forums... We're sorta a Support Group for all us fellow Gearheads. The Low Tech to High, etc. Mainstream people "just don't understand". LOL! Chris |

Is GS a community? No it has grown just large, but there are pockets of community within GS. They are just harder to find vs someplace like here. Stick around and you will discover even here the community is as much behind the scenes in PM’s Texts emails and phone calls.
In many ways just like out in the actual world the community you make. You have to put yourself out there build relationships. You will find you can learn as much from those you disagree with as those you agree with.

I'm not welcomed there.
You see, I was given a great responsibility when I was in the service because of my advanced scientific decision making and ethical grounding that was part of a great protection system for the people of the United States. So people connected to a certain secrete society that spans into the world leaders and politicians attack, slander, and ban me even without provocation once they find out who I am. I'm sure over time, after these last few things that will come to pass, it will be better for me. Some are still shocked on how their leader bend to my requests at the top. When they are ordered to do the psychological warfare to me. This is not only limited to online. I notice GS is a British Empire corporate entity and what I experienced there may be a product of the current world events. Even though I started to alter things for the US because of other's unethical scientific things.
Needless to say, my dark mirror opposite of me of that responsibility will not prevail, and I would like to fix everything. But unfortunately. I'm out numbered and the secrete society people purposely don't want me to cross into the political realm to accomplish this. Their new world order agencies erased my existence, and my files ended up in both of the "leader's" houses. Some of the politicians know who I am and they came to my defense and go forward with my suggestions to them. Because they served too in the armed services and knew of my existence.
My life has been so crazy. And it never really dawned to me until recently why some of the good agents referred to me as "Captain America" until I picked up one of those comic books and it showed so many parallels existed between me and a fictional character made decades before I was born.
There is a few things I can say to the people of the US. I was their protector of certain matters in a special group of people and I'm the one who is preventing them to use their weapon of bioterrorism: "the mask". Because I know it would do the same thing here in the US, that is causing a certain plague of pneumonia with the unethical groups' co-wager, China.

I noticed PROBOARDS is a canadian company. But since you are using services in the United States, you are under US jurisdiction. So any action against me or any citizen of the United States will cause legal action upon proboards.

The answer to these problems: buy another guitar! Seems crazy to outsiders.. but it works! My buddy buys them every 2-3 weeks! He went from clinically depressed, $5k/month on meds and hospital bills, marital issues.., to: happiness, less meds, under $1k bills.. wife happier... I’ve come to realize… this music thing isn’t about entertaining others or earning a living. The real payoff is the escape and feeling, it’s a blessing. Thats how I try to look at it now. No reason to expect anything, just consider the alternative path! (I need to take my own advice.. some new cheap Fenders have me GASing)

GS suffered quite a bit when people who were below learning attacked others who had a lot of experience in recording and audio, so some big guys went away, others went as far as combing through their posts from the past and deleting helpful technical information.
The base got diluted when huge numbers got in and (as already stated above) dropped the signal to noise ratio. As a database, it is still somewhat useful if you bring your own BS detector.

yea, the whole world pushed all my anti-terrorist investigation buttons. I decided that all sites controlled by the British Empire and British Empire users on other sites seemed to be doing this as some sort of campaign to sew discord. Of course, us engineers/scientists have been the worst hit in all of this. I hope Woofie ( Dr. Wolfgang Wodarg ) is doing ok over there.

For me in my age group the name change seemed to usher in a bunch of rude kids who seem to enjoy wind up trolling more than discussing audio. My friends there stopped posting - I cancelled my account. |

With all due respect, two points:
1. The volume and obscure nature of the lengthy previous posts, posts that have nothing to do with music or gear, are as much of a questionable distraction here as what is being referenced as issues on the other site.
2. I know a former covert career military member who also was referenced by fellow soldiers as Captain America. He made it clear that those who have truly served in such roles and actually experienced what most don’t know about are the ones who never talk about it.

I hadn't been on GS in 5 years. I know this because they wouldn't let me sign in because... I hadn't been on in 5 years. Didn't matter. A quick browse around and it was unrecogmizable from what I remembered. No harm done. Not my cup of tea anymore.

I haven't logged into GS in a few months, it just got too overbearing. Not that I'd never log in again, but my initial goal was not again in 2023, and after that I'd search the site if I needed to research a particular piece of gear. And avoid taking part in "discussions" (to use the term loosely).
Basically, someone posts a question, people reply, and the thread continues ad nauseam with select folks calling other responders morons, etc. Not a great feeling to take time out from doing something fun or useful to share your expertise to help someone make their own informed decision, then spend the next two years fending off misquotes and personal attacks from others. Often these are not people who offered help to the OP in the first place, but seem to be folks who scrutinize other people's offers of help for thoughts considered impure. The tip-off is that biggest offenders tend to have unbelievably high daily post rate average over many years, so it seems to be a sport of sorts, I suppose addicting.
A bunch of really cool and helpful people, though, whose posts I miss reading. But fortunately some of them post here.

Behind the scenes in PM and in certain threads and sub forums there is some community left. I deleted my last account when stupidity prevailed about basic technical stuff like phase shift. I'll be back there eventually.
