Duh.. i wish i understood half of it, but i haven't learned electronics but other things. I appreciate this kind of thread and try to gain a better understanding of what's going on. i put only a toe in these waters with building a solid state Pultec-like thing with a JLM Audio Dingo and boards from GDIY, so other people did the hard work.

Don't feel too bad about being lost. Some of the time he was hard to follow if you didn't pay attention to class the previous semester. This one is interesting and I'll have to hit up Dr. T at his shop tomorrow and see how this turned out. Just to tell you, he's kind of like a Simon 🤣 so either this site kicked him, or he stepped away for a while.

Ok, I went to his shop. He basically got tired of the Internet and the rudeness here and doesn't care that this site blocked his IP.
But on the EQ, he said the circuit has excessive band limiting and too much stray capacitance with the surface mount devices. He made the tube circuit in the KT on a piece of plywood and it does sound better. He has a real Pultec and it sounds almost the same but less noisy. He plans though to do something different with a pair of KTs and make a pair passive and build a separate stereo line amp that has both tube and DOA line amp. He said layout is an issue and the output transformer is wrong. So he said it would be more cost effective to build up nice line amp separate.
The modded KT has an edcor for its input and a carhnill on its output.
I am going to pop in on him after a couple weeks and see how this goes.
