No, someone is mislabeling it.
1N914 is a small signal general purpose diode. That some will use for low voltage low power power supplies, but better diodes can be used. The diode number (1N914) and all that are labeled as such are the same diode electrically. They might have a suffix, like 1N914A, but its the same diode.

1n914 is the model number. Descriptions can be different but the electrical performance will be the same. The 1n914 is also the same as the 1n4148 and some others. The 1n4148 is a newer part that has better capacitance specs and they used to sort them into lots, but now they simply label them as needed to fill stock.
Also, "Signal" diode does not specify any electrical properties. It's a colloquial term to specify that it can only handle low power, or has low parasitic properties, but even some modern high-power diodes can have better low-voltage signal properties than older "signal" diodes.. "Rectifier" can mean ANY diode, since any diode can rectify and oscillating signal. Some use the term in a colloquial sense to mean "Power rectification" which is a fairly specific application. Unfortunately these terms are generally context based and some of the context is lost on people not intimately familiar with electronic design.
