This is a preliminary "offering" if you may ... I know with higher priced purchases like this, there's a lot to consider and it takes time to save some money or move gear around to make something like this happen. I went though the same thing when I bought this console.
I'm thinking about selling my API Box 2 console in the near future. I'm probably not ready to do that "right this second", but I've been thinking about it for a year or so at least and starting to plan on how I'm going to shift gears here at the studio.
The console is in amazing shape. If you look at the MillSounds YouTube page, I've done lots of videos on it and with it. It's the perfect console for me and a lot of other people. I'll never buy another console after this, or just end up keeping it. I'm considering going "consoleless". I got this a few years ago to be the brain of the studio here and to start integrating a lot more outboard gear. I slowly worked up to that and got to a good point, and then realized I just didn't want to work that way and started selling off outboard gear. I've just come to the realization that I know exactly how I want to work after doing this professionally for almost 20 years, and at this point I'm just using it as a giant summing mixer and some preamps. I'm never really going to utilize it the way it's meant to be used as a console.
I've got the crate and everything for it, I've got a ton of cabling that I'll include with it that will probably get 90% of you up and running right out of the gate. Probably at least a $1000 or something in just the cabling.
Anyway, I'm throwing this out there hoping to get a conversation going with someone so we can both start making some respective plans. Feel free to reach out, ask questions, talk. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk...
