Still loving your Bricasti M7?
It is a sincere question for those who have been using it awhile. It's not a new question, but its relevant for me in 2024.
I have been on the fence with this for years and the past month keeping revisiting the site. When it was initially released I had so many other hardware verbs, I just decided to wait it out. I did sell most of my hardware verbs over the past 2 years.
I have been using the LX480 and I have had the UA EMT140 for many years. I have the original IR impulses from Samplicity many years ago and occasionally load them into REVerence. They sound great, but I am not overwhelmed with them.
Just looking for insights and perspectives from those who are far past the honeymoon stages.
Thank you!

Kind of a silly question from my perspective. Still in the racks here. The things it does for me, nothing else can touch.

Seven years with the M7 and, despite buying and trying many reverb plug-ins, for my preferences, hardware M7 in parallel still has a perfect record.
I don’t even go too far beyond presets as there are so many and, dialing in the amount of parallel reverb is extremely effective.
Btw, anytime I work with a plug-in, I use it the same way, create a send to create parallel, 100% wet reverb and dial in the amount with the fader.
Most recently I liked the latest FabFilter plug with some of the new capabilities but, during final comparison, I chose the M7.

Yep. It's the best. Only thing that I use instead of it is a real life chamber of our hall.

I wish I had two! Nothing does what this does! One of my favorite pieces still after several years!

I do understand it may sound silly for those who really get value from it, but alot of people sold theirs. Matters not, for me, I just want to add that last small % I can't get from my current selections and I am very much about long term relationships with gear and value those perspectives from those who have been utilizing it for this long!

What are you running DAW wise?

So, just to be the contrarian in the room...I'd love to try one of these again, but my last run with it made me feel like it wasn't a big enough ROI. I just felt at the time, nobody was going to be able to tell...like no one is gonna walk up to me and say, "damn, dude...I heard that Bricasti you put on the snare..."
I mean, maybe if I used one day in day out, I'd feel the same - but I guess we all have our different things we would or wouldn't live without.

The box does so many things exceptionally well....but even if the box did only one thing - putting reverb on mastered final mixes - there are a couple patches at low ratios during mastering that would make it worth twice the money. It's like freaking magic. I've had so many clients say that to me - and I never tell them how I do it - so shhhhhhhh.......

Am I remembering correctly that Wiz has an m7, with his switch to UA, wonder how he views the m7 vs plug question.

I'm 8 years in with mine. I've toyed with selling it as with some longer duration projects I'll skip it so I can offline bounce but then when I do use it I'm reminded why I keep it. If you do get an M7 I recommend getting a plugin controller for it, makes life really easy. I admit that John has a point, probably no one would notice if I slipped in the Liquidsonics version when using it as a send but Bill also has a point that you can use tiny ammounts on a full mix and it does magic.

The dialogues here are really happening in the last few %. It's true the listener in the remaining 95% won't know and I full appreciate the ROI with specialized gear. truth be told some plugin verbs are just fanstastic. That said, I feel it is always a game of tiny micro improvements stacked up for me. That seems like the reality with all gear that covers the fundamental well and covers the last inch of the mile as well. I welcome all the support I can get

You were all supposed to say it absolutely sucks and was the worst investment ever just to drive the used price down 😁

Other than a couple of really die hard geeks I don’t think anyone has ever really commented on a verb I used, that being said the reason the lexicon 300, Yamaha pro3r and a couple of hardware boxes are here is I can usually find something that works in seconds with minimal tweaking.
