Now there are three songs on the radio about bro country songs that name-check bro country songs. Here's a thought...how about writing a song that's not bro country???

Blake Shelton did the same thing with "Boys Round Here" it sounds anti Bro Country yet it has a Hip Hop beat.

It does get a little sickening that so many songs have the lyrics "Jeans painted on so tight" or something to that effect. This song does make a good point there but I don't care for the Bro-Country theme. I think to hear a mature song you have to move away from the Top 40 as far as possible.

Real songwriting is about sharing your personal experiences/stories/emotions. Writing that the average person can identify with. There should usually be some heartfelt emotion or even tragedy involved. If the total sum of your life is getting drunk and objectifying women, you probably shouldn't be writing songs.

I think like all song genres, video is driving the conversation too much. T&A sells, which is something the advertising world figured out a long time ago. Music has devolved down that path and has for awhile starting with the Whitesnake era. If I were king, I'd kill the music video.
