I'm in the mood for something low. I've had my personal 6 string tuned down to C and lower using much thicker strings, but the intonation can't be made correct due to the normal scale..
So, given a similar price, would you go for a 7 string or go with a 6 string baritone?

I cannot count over 5 so I am unsure what the elventytwelth string and the eleventyninth string would be for. Going lower isent that for a bass guitar? You don't want to get into an argument with a bass player. My last argument with a bass player.
Me "hey I think your in the wrong key" Bass "I always play in this key" Me "Hmmmmm" Bass "my guitar is shiny" Me "Can we try it again in the right key please" Bass "Shiny"
Me "No still the wrong Key" Bass "your guitar is shiny to" Me "The songs in A" Bass "a a a" Me "Yep lets try it again"
Me "No. Ok we will play it in C" Bass "C is my Key" Me "yep" Bass "got anymore drugs?"
So as you can see don't mess with the bass you cannot win.

I like 7 strings, I had a Washburn that I sold but if I did it again I'd get a Schecter. I have a few 6 and 5 string basses and it's nice to have a low B on a guitar also. Especially for Metal.

Slightly of track. Digital desks are great for making room for the bass since our band moved to a digital desk our bass and kick drum have never sounded better. Prity much they are the only ones allowed below 200hz. With a digital high pass filter on each channel you can find the sweet spots. The only thing I would like to do better is have the bass sidechained to the kick.

Dude, that bass story had me crying.
I like really low tunings, which is the point of this. I already have a 5 string bass for the extra low low.. I'm thinking 7 string, but I've always wondered about baritones..

Until a few hours ago I didn’t even know they made 7 string bass guitars. The more I know the more I realise how much I don't know. If you get one can you post some tracks and a review? As far as advice. Shiny:)

Yikes.
And, I'm talking about guitars here, not basses!
Actually, I'd like an 8 string guitar but there are no cheap ones..

Sorry to get off topic 8 string guitars have an ultra wide fretboard obviously which takes extra craftsmanship, special bridges etc.. especially if they have a Floyd Rose. Check out Tony MacAlpine some time, awesome 8 string player.

I love a baritone Telecaster. I set one up for Dwight Yoakum a few years back. Those have an extended scale so they feel/sound right. If you want to see a master of the 12 string bass, check out www.garrygoodman.comHe's an old high school friend I set up with some custom on-board electronics. The low string is tuned to 16 hz. It's an .170 sized string, he makes special low end strings himself and for other players. The top string is tuned to G above the high E on a guitar. It's a .006 string and the bass has 36 frets. It is the widest range electric string instrument around. He uses special cabs to handle the low end. It doesn't produce a sound at 16 hz, just a hell of a lot of air movement.

Still contemplating this.. Any other opinions?
On one hand, the baritone 6 string has more options since pickups and things are mostly available for 6 strings. I have a couple pickups I could put in one right away..
Although a 7 string is just cooler, and the top 6 strings are normal tune for those who might want to play standard tuning as well as having a lower string..
This shouldn't be so hard.

A 7 string has more options as far as extended scales and chords go.

I bought a Brice fretless 6er at Rondo, very nice bass for the price. I coated the fretboard with West System epoxy and air brushed it with color change paint. Sounds great, lots of muahhh..

So i finally got a 7 string. It's an Ibanez RG7321. Got it from a pawn shop for ridiculously cheap. It needed some serious cleaning and new strings but it sounds good.
