I remember 15 x years ago DIY Neve modules was all the rage. Seems like people dont do this anymore. DO you think its because Neve clones are so cheap and good enough?
Not too sure what to do with my last 2 x NEVE 3415a modules now, as I dont particularly want to give them away.

If you're adventurous, you could try using them as the surrounding circuitry for a Pultec-inspired inductor Eq? I have been tinkering with the idea of building a MEQ-5, with possibly just the mid cut section, as a mud removal tool, and to use an AML ez3415 for interfacing and makeup. MEQ schem: www.gyraf.dk/gy_pd/pultec/meq5.gifCarnhill inductors: www.audiomaintenance.com/acatalog/Inductors.htmlI have no idea if it will work as expected, so I haven't taken the jump and bought the ez3415, but if you already have them, it should be quick to find out. Alternatively, you might be able to use something like this and do mic pres? www.jlmaudio.com/shop/1272-to-1290-module.html

Maybe I'm misunderstanding exactly how DIY we're talking, but there seems to be quite a lot of DIY Neve kits available through AML, SoundSkulptor, DIYRE, etc.
The GroupDIY Audio forum is a great resource for those looking to get more DIY than simply assembling a kit.

I think the original Neve modules that people were trying to buy were subject to a hype and then scarcity. *Some* neve modules were very desirable while others were not, but once the desirable ones got snapped up really quick in the first days of DIY madness, that meant that the prices started to rise exponentially and two things happened..
One, people bought up all the good modules pretty quickly.
Secondly, people started to panic and snap up less desirable modules at high prices and then got caught with modules they thought were worth a lot of money but are not, but they try to sell the modules at hyped up prices so there always seems to be a large amount of modules out there for sale at super high prices that scare off buyers and turn them to chinese clones and DIY kits.
I know a local guy who went out and paid 1K$ for a couple "Neve" modules from something like a V series console and he's asked me about 20 times how much they're worth and every time I look and tell him they're practically worthless he gets mad and tells me "BUT THEY'RE NEVE MODULES" and then won't talk to me for a few months. He really wants them to have appreciated in value so he can make his money back plus some profit but it's not happening.
So mainly I think that the hype has passed and people have realized that the Neve "sound" is a sum of the parts and not any particularly special ingredient, so chinese clones and cheap kits have moved the price point back down to levels more equivalent to the sum of the parts.
Anyway, the modules you have are closer to the 1081 preamp and with some racking work (case, adding switches and power supplies, etc) you could turn them into something similar to the preamp in a 1081. It'd be similar to how a 1272 is *mostly* a 1073 preamp without a gain section.
